Little rumour that we are chasing Pennington hard for another loan spell, if true would it be for the right back slot ? Would make is rock solid defensively in my opinion.

I'd rather have him at centre back. Looked much more natural there. Maybe move Rickets out to full back.

I thought he played better at centre back when he was here

Would be fantastic if we could get him back. Put him in the middle with Reda. Doesn't Ricketts play full back either side? That could give an option to rotate out the likes of Haynes.

He was horrendous at RB but superb at CB. If we had a back four of Stokes-Reda-Pennington-Ricketts, we would be very strong defensively.

This would be my preferred defence too. Could Haynes ever be coached to adapt his play and become a winger? (I have played Football Manager too long!)

I am only assume those saying Pennington should be RB didn't see him play RB last year, CB is his position. Would be great to have him back but with what we do have it wouldn't be the end of the world if he didn't, like award would imagine he'll go to a champ side!

I think Haynes could be a real handful playing wide left ahead of the full back, not the best defender in the world but showed real promise going forward

Definitely think that would be the back 4 sorted. Would move Reda to left back, Ricketts and Willis CB and Penno right back. Just a keeper needed at the back then!

Definitely true Nick. I do think the same of Willis though, he's had a few stinkers when playing right back but then again i think he needs to be on that team sheet every week this year.

Think you're bang on there. He was horrendous at right back.

And those assuming it would be Reda moved to fullback and not Ricketts haven't seen Ricketts play.

Id love to have him back but I think he would want similar assurances to Lawton that he would be coming here to play in his preferred position; CB. He was a much improved player a CB IMO and would rather see him there than RB, with Ricketts playing as RB.

We don't need anymore defenders, complete waste of money if true.

Need 2 wingers and 2 strikers. Possibly another CM too.

He would defo be cb. Ricketts would be fullback where I personally think mowbray wants him.

Would be a huge loan coup

Yeah definitely agree with the potential 5 positions you've mentioned. If we could get him on loan paying minimal wages it would be a bonus though.

Pennington would be a great addition to the squad. There will be injuries, suspension and loss of form.

A long term loan might not eat up that much budget. TM experience as a defender and the prospect of regular football might be enough to tempt him back.

Don't really need him now other than cover. Even then we don't, we have stokes, Haynes and Harries for example
