Oh yeah I think he would be better off sticking here for now as it took him 6 months to warm up at this level. Doesn't mean his agent or Poch wont be in his ear telling him to test himself at a higher level.

Blackburn have had a bid accepted for a striker in Italy, so I think that rules out BTA for them

Isn't he going from £20k to £25k a week? I get that's a 25% increase on current salary but its being made out that he's going from £2k to £25k.

Swansea acting really weird in the media, it looks.

I know it's a formality at this stage, but there is a precedent on how clubs handle transfers.

it's really weird and slightly unbecoming, it's like there are realising they aren't the big club they thought and don't like it.

This is just embarrassing. Really poor form and attempt at assassinating the character of Swansea's best player and captain.

After 10 years of service.

I'm sure he's had a pay rise, but it's also not unreasonable to think he might just fancy a new challenge, and that it's no refection on Swansea as a club.

Tbf they are loosing there captain and best player by a mile, I’d be as pissed off if we lost sheaf to someone else in this league

That was really good of them. As they are trying to present themselves as acting in an altruistic manner, presumably they have waived the fee.

Clubs will always try and push the narrative that the player wanted to go, even where it might have been in their interests to sell at that point anyway. He's got two years left and his about to turn 30, his potential value is diminishing. In their last published accounts for y/e 2023 they made an operating loss (excluding amortisation which is a paper loss) of £18m offset with transfer income of £4.5m.

They have also had a loan from Macquarie Bank secured on proceeds from future player sales.

sounds like this has really upset their fans. and i get that.
looks to me as if the management and owners are trying to justify this to their fans, and give the impression it was out of their hands to a degree.
i heard rumours of death threats having been made. don't know about that, but clearly the fans are pissed off.
you wait 'til we rub it in for 90mins on saturday. all police leave cancelled in south wales this weekend, no doubt.

To be fair to Luke Williams if you watch the full press conference he is very respectful about Grimes. He talks for about 5 mins about him and the interviewer keeps pushing him on certain aspects of the deal.

As mentioned above that is not how we operate nowadays. We'll have targets in mind already I would imagine.

MvE is already getting pretty strong interest so we will have a list of targets ready to go.

We are about to sign Grimes so if Sheaf goes we can look to getting in a few prospects maybe.

Wright is a a weird one for me, the World Cup is in the US the end of next season. I'd imagine there will be a push from his agent to get him a bigger stage as he'll be desperate to secure a squad space. But there is a chance he might feel more confident staying where he is settled

For all the shite King gets he has re-invested transfer funds, there is no reason why that would stop. Next evolution for me is to do what Brighton do by doubling up positions with quality prospects as backup. That's the real challenge.

That has already started.

Grimes is your sheaf replacement.

EMC for Wright.

Bassette is there is BTA/Simms go.

Just need to surround their arena with flocks of sheep, that should act as a bit of a distraction.

As good as EMC has been, if Wright goes, I'd hope we'd have someone of a higher caliber lined up.

He was only on a paltry £1,000,000 per year before this.

Seriously, it was a bit low of him implying that his family had something to do with it, as if the kids had told him to leave.

You'll also need to factor in a decent chunk for a signing on fee probably in the region of £0.5m
