No doubt but I think we could have seen the current player here if we had tried a bit moreI thought there was,a player there but his work rate out of possession was poor.

In his spell here as a player we had an indifferent first season where we'd have been relegated but for Middlesbrough getting a points deduction: missed 75% of the following season through injury where we were a better side without him; came back in the third season and looked better; had a great fourth and final season which gives people a sunnier view of his overall time here.He was a tad better for us than you suggest.

You could argue that he didn't have the players around him to make use of his vision in that first year and I know people have different opinions of him, including ex players, but that's what I felt at the time.

It does seem that they get told contradictory things and specifics that may be exaggerated (things get lost in translation if the info 1st, 2nd or 3rd hand) or misinterpreted because we’re only humans.
