Bad news

Coventry City striker Matty Godden still can't run

The Sky Blues' star striker has only played 14 Championship games so far this season

Perhaps he should have had this discussion with the physio last week while the window was open.

I pretty much thought his season would be over. That’s why bringing Walker back carefully is crucial.

You're thinking off a different incident. It was Walker that was taken out by Samba, Godden got injured against Millwall.

One of the lucky ones I think. I had it for about 5 years. Absolutely crippling first thing in the morning before the tendons stretch out a bit.

Do you think Godden was doomed no matter what or would he have had a chance of it not recurring if we'd allowed more time?

The injury to Godden originally occurred away at Forest

I think he was always bound to be out longer than he originally was. But equally he's a professional athlete with medical staff that can help treat it day in day out and I'm a fat, ex-hockey player with just ibuprofen and resistance bands / stretches to help me deal with the pain

Like CVD said though, for some it clears up really quickly and in some cases overnight. But I really struggled with it.

The image on the link shows Samba Sow taking Godden out at Forest and causing the injury.

Quirky...

Samba Sow on Godden
Brice Samba on Walker

Add that to the 6pts we've gifted them & they're fast becoming our bogey team.
Did we run over a black cat on the way to the City Ground?

same here. I injured mine when i was 21, and I've still got problems at 50+.
I probably drink a few more beers and eat more crisps than Matty Gooden though, so fingers crossed for him.

Same as me, agony for that period then nothing, never resurfaced. If ever it was going to it would be now with the amount of running I have been doing but thankfully it hasnt yet (touch wood). I have a family friend who is a fair bit older, maybe in her 50s and it has been with her for the best part of 20 years and still flairs up regularly. Must be awful

Unless he's lifting dumbbells with his toes I don't think it is unfortunately.

Always been a bogey team since the 80s. Never seemed to get a result against them

I'm at the point now where having Godden playing is a bonus. It's unfortunate but he's a sicknote.

He’s Injury prone for sure hasn’t he been plagued by an injury most his career

He was fine for pretty much all the 5 years before he joined us. He's just been unlucky with the types of injury this season

If we stay up do we need to offload Godden this injury he's carrying seems to be recurring all too often to be taking the chance for our best striker to be missing half a season or longer
