EFL to vote on whether clubs have to produce a matchday programme or not.
Gotta admit i'm old school and have a cupboard full of programmes (over 1200 odd) going back to mid 70s. Still flick through them. Son keeps the tradition going.
Personally think it'd be a shame if they stopped producing them.
Bet we'd be one of the first to stop. Replace them with some new-fangled download which in about 10 years would be obsolete and no longer usuable - computer version of betamax.

1 of the 2 away games I went to this season the club had printed 1 programme to cover 2 home games, pretty sure it was Carlisle as I don't remember seeing a programme at Accrington. Maybe this could be done instead to reduce printing costs etc

I used to buy them, but probably haven't bought one in 10 years. Started to feel it was the same old stuff, banal player features, "they played for both sides" (but who cares?), quiz, kids section, some bland words from the manager, update on development/youth games, "around the league", ticket news etc. There was nothing you didn't already know from the website, unless it was some dreary interview with Richard Wood about his post-football retirement planning.

If it is a cost to the club to produce (i.e. loss making rather than profitable) then I'd sack it off.

They aren't banning them, just making it so they are no longer mandatory. I heard that some clubs make a loss on them so it isn't really fair to force them to keep producing them. I got one at Wembley but that was probably my first in 10 years.

This... who came up with the idea that it MUST be done! bizarre!

I think they could easily make it monthly or something, so far less often (people may be more likely to buy) and costs will obviously be lower.

Let a club decide whether they want to bother or not

I like the idea of a download version and it could be much more up to date than the magazine hard copy.

Think that might well prove popular on game day.

I’ve always collected them and like others, have thousands in the attic. Every now and again it’s nice to read through some.

Used to collect but to be honest they are full of the same limited information regurgitated.
Have never bought one since the Ricoh opened.
Got loads from about 1999 to 2005 if anyone wants them.

It's time to ditch them. Information included can be found on various websites/social media 24 hours a day.
Who wants an A4 poster of Ryan Haynes anyway?

An essential item.
I feel cheated if I can't get one. Like others I have around a thousand, including home v Bayern Munich donated to me by the guy who did my parents' double glazing many years ago. He saw all my CCFC memorabilia and gave me an old wooden rattle from the 60s and 2 bags of programmes. He had left a ticket for the Bayern Munich inside that programme. They are a fantastic link to the past and the history of the club. I looked through some of mine when we had to empty the loft for insulation about 4 years ago. Many of them have players' signatures on or tickets inside, signed by players.
Yet another hallmark of the beautiful game which was about including and informing the fans and connecting them with the players and all other aspects of the club.
It will be a sad day when they stop making them, but all things must pass, I guess.

I buy programmes and flick through them. There is nothing much to see really but I get them out of habit. Would be missed I think.

If they didn't have programmes in the late 60's early 70's no-one standing on the kop would have been able to pee

I miss them terribly, although the last one I ever bought was in 1987 for the Chairty Shield game at Wembley.

went through mine last night.
Think i'd miss them. Programmes for/from matches against over 60 different sides going back over 40 years now. Something nostalgic about them. A physical trigger of certain memories about some games / matchdays.
Also found a box of completed Panini sticker albums from 1974-1984 and autograph books from around the same period (reckon i've Mick Coop about 50 times ). Some great names in them - liverpool sides of the 70s, George Best, Bobby Moore and other '66 players.

I bought the two after the death of Cyrille earlier this season one for an Albion supporting friend and one for me only read about Regis and chucked it on the side in the house. Before think I might have bought one at the checkatrade final but lost that as well, before that the first at the Ricoh one and guess what can’t find that either

Bigger issue is I still haven’t finished my scrapbook from the 87 cup final all the press cuttings are still at my parents

I used to buy a programme for every game, but now I but it for as a memento for big games, so our Cup games at Spurs, Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea at home. If we got there, I'd get a programme for the playoff final too...
