Have you heard the Billy Connolly joke about the hitman Otis

"Shut up, I'm trying to save you a grand here..."

Brilliant, Connolly at his very best. :)

I left a wallet with $1000 in it in a cab in Vegas whilst out there for my 30th birthday. The woman who got in after me picked it up, called my credit card who called then me and then Fed-Ex'd it back to me once she'd gotten to her house (Houston - Texas).

I was very lucky!

My daughter got home from college one day crying that she lost her bus card. It's an expensive card that you buy (and I pay for) that allows riding the bus for the entire college year.
She said she put it in her pocket but now it wasn't there. I immediately thought she probably dropped it on the floor when she exited the bus and it never made it to her pocket.
So I drove back to the bus stop area and started hunting around, and there it was lying in the grass. Fortunately, it was a place not many people walk by otherwise someone would have taken it.

That nearly happened to us a couple of years ago. We live in an Edwardian terrace with bathroom downstairs off the pokey kitchen. A builder knocked it all into one for us and made one large kitchen (in it at the moment) and put the bathroom upstairs. We paid him up and I was crowing that he undercharged us by £800. Bugger me but three months, yes months later he rang me up asking for that money to be paid to the electrician. Bugger.
