Anyone heard of this lad? On trial and scored in a reserve game. Former Ajax player who plays upfront.

From a quick Google: http://www.google.co.uk/search?gcx=w&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q="marvin+hasselbaink"

Picture:

Played for FC Omniworld in Holland after Ajax, a Dutch 2nd division team. Is 5 foot 10 inches.

That's all I've got, let the speculation begin.

Well he's pretty handy at beating 10 year olds, so he'll look good in training!

He played for Aldershot Town last season. Got some good reviews but hey, if he was any good why play for Aldershot?

ALDERSHOT TOWN - SEASON THREE
COCA COLA CHAMPIONSHIP - 2010/11

Players in: 9 (£750k) - 2 were loan signings
Players out: 13 (£195k)
Coca Cola Championship: Pos 2nd, W 28, D 10, L8, F 89 A 40, Pts 94
FA Cup: 6th Round (0-1 vs Everon)
Carling Cup: 2nd Round (0-3 vs Portsmouth)
Top Scorer: Marvin Hasselbaink (23 goals)
Best Average Rating: Scott Donnelly (7.49)
Best Players: Marvin Hasselbaink, Scott Donnelly, Dave Winfield, Peter Enckelman
Highlights: Doing the double over eventual league champions Sunderland (3-2 & 2-0) beating Leeds United away in the league 2-0 and demolishing Sheffield United 7-1 at Bramall Lane. The biggest highlight would be dumping Chelsea out of the FA Cup before we lost at home to Everton in a poor display. Promoted to the Barclays Premier League.

Doubt it he's unattached. Although Sisu will probably take out a loan to get him if we sign him, maybe thats why they think a poan player is??

So...he didn't play for Aldershot in real life, just in someone's computer game?

You'd think the part about them getting promoted to the Premier League would be enough of a giveaway.

I dont speak dutch and most of the google links are in just that (which is understandable considering his nationality), but i dont think he's had a club since 09. Or am i misreading?

Yeah, the way it was stated as fact may have thrown some. There aren't many L2 players I haven't heard of, and certainly not Dutch ones!

He also beat Scott Flinders once but just tucked it past the post, and is Jimmy Floyd's nephew.

27 April 2007
Ajax have signed three players from their own youth academy to a contract: Marvin Hasselbaink, Siem de Jong and Nathaniel Will. The contract of Young Ajax player Javier Martina was extended by one year.
Siem de Jong signed for three years. Hasselbaink, born 26 April 1988, signed a contract which runs from 1 July 2007 through 30 June 2009. The right winger joined Ajax's youth academy in August of 2004. Before that, Hasselbaink played in the youth of HFC Haarlem.

Interesting.... pacey player...

Translated for you peeps that can't read Dutch:
Hasselbaink gets chance at FC Volendam
Gert Kruys, coach of FC Volendam, Marvin Hasselbaink gives the opportunity this week to convince the coaching staff of his qualities during training camp in Turkey's Belek, reports RTV Noord-Holland.
The 22-year old forward is a Free Agent and can be added directly to the selection. Hasselbaink trained for some time along with the promises of the club from the Jupiler League, as did the former Ajax youth player from a good impression and so took him to the A-Kruys selection for training camp. "He is fast and can be either on the attacker side and center play. We want him these days of observation. Then we see what his plans are."

Cross expects no changes in his selection. "But we always keep our ears and eyes open. I exclude nothing." Hasselbaink played until 2009 in the youth of Ajax, but did not the first team. Last season the forefront player for Almere City, where he was given five minutes to play league matches.
