If you can get £15m+ for Sheaf, I don't know how you can say "No" as a Championship club.

Between that and a potential Vik windfall late in the window, the money could buy you an entire new XI of young, exciting prospects like Stamenic that position this club for a promotion push and a good core of players that will keep you up as they start hitting their prime.

For years, we talked about following the Brentford model. This is exactly how it's done.

I can’t believe how many people have been institutionalised by the club to accept that it’s ok to sell Sheaf. He’s under contract, how can you ever build a promotion winning team by selling your best players, a year left on the contract ok you can understand it. If he goes to be replaced by another inferior cheaper replacement you’re looking at tenth again. The more the club thinks the fans are fine with it they will be more likely to sell him.

Depends on the situation don’t it. I love sheaf - don’t want to sell him, but if selling Sheaf brings in 15m - we can then buy 3 5m players.

that way you’re building a better squads, like someone said - that’s the Brentford model and it’s relatively successful. Then next season you potentially sell MVE for 15m and the process goes again - 3 5m players

Sheaf to Man Utd?!

I’ve heard it all now…sorry, he’s a smashing lad and a really good footballer, but I would be astonished if he didn’t struggle immensely with the PL. Especially at a club like Man Utd, with the climate, the expectation, the dross they have spent a fortune on.

If it’s true, then get it over the line; let them pay over the odds to fund a couple of quality players. Taxi for Benjamin!

Looked as good as any of them in the two PL team games we played. I think people vastly overrate the level of the PL for individual players. On a team level yes they can afford the best of everything and that leads to a massive gap. But I’d back any of our bigger players to make it at that level.

Surely nowadays that is more difficuly as wages for the 3 players would be much more than Sheafs wage?

United could do a lot worse than Sheaf, even though their fans can’t comprehend big Man United shopping in the championship. They’ll probably sign amrabat for the same money.

I don't mind player sales like I used to as, unlike previous ownership, the owner has shown that he will give it back to Robins. Its quite exciting getting a big sale knowing Robins is going to be bowling around the transfer market with his massive bollocks.

If we’re using the two FA Cup ties against PL opposition as a yardstick, our whole team are worthy of a PL move.

That was a Herculean effort, on both occasions, so much so that our play off push vanished because of it.

Do you think he could maintain that level week in week out in the PL?

And playing around better players will improve his game too. In a way, hope this is true, he deserves a shot in the PL and not for some nailed on relegation cannon fodder team like the club chosen by Hamer.

Im the same. If a player wants to go, as long as we get the right price and reinvest most of it, so be it. That’s football

Top PL clubs should shop in the Championship more. They could have had Vik for £20m last summer but now will be spending £80+ on him.

Palace are going to make an absolute killing on Wharton because they were smart enough to pick him up from this division. Maddison cost loads more than if Leicester came straight to us or Spurs straight to Norwich.

Adam Scott will probably be the next one that could have looked comfortable immediately in a 'big' side but only Bournemouth would take the punt.

There is so much talent at this level.

You'd think not, but this is the club that spunked £80m on Antony.

Pretty much any transfer would look ok next to that.

If Eccles gets a big move then I'd want Sanchez, Stamenic and Browne. With Torp thrown in the mix I'd be happy with that going forward.

If any PL club offers £15m+ for Sheaf we can’t turn it down. It’s the model we have now where we sell a star to reinvest in a load of new talent.

Although if a club like Man U come along we should be asking for £20m

Thought we had the best midfield in the division for a few hours. Nice while it lasted.

All logic says we’ll sell Sheaf. 26 yo, profile high after performance in the cup, two-years left on his deal.
