I don't feel particularly excited about the game tomorrow, no. Tbh I just feel kinda exhausted and fed up with the whole thing and apprehensive about the future. You don't get to sit there and say 'its the club you support - you've got to be excited.' That's just not how it works. You're either excited or you are not.

Live in the moment man… Things weren’t great before, hence Robins got sacked.

Whoever the new manager is, it’s a fresh start and opportunity for new perspectives and approaches that hopefully drive us forward. Personally, I’d have given Robins the whole season but now a decision has been made, there’s no point being down about it.

I think Robins did more for this club than anyone in decades, and IMHO dismissing him was unfair, rash and an unnecessary risk to the club.

However I'm with you on this point Nick. Jimmy Hill created the Sky Blues, galvanised the whole city in support of the club, and transformed the whole of football itself in a number of ways. His statue makes sense. Mark Robins was an absolute gem of a manager, and deserves some kind of permanent recognition. But not a statue IMHO.

Hard disagree. You achieve something that most fans haven’t seen in their lifetime you get a statue. Just because he didn’t transform football doesn’t mean he didn’t transform CCFC.

Fair enough, that's a perfectly understandable view. Like I said, I think there should be some permanent recognition, it's only a question of what form it takes. Have other clubs got multiple statues (genuine question)?

I dunno, I always live in the moment and am a joy seeking carefree soul, Middlesbrough away felt amazing. First time I've felt that real buzz leaving a game all season, and like we were on the cusp of turning the corner yet again.

Now look what we've done

Legend is a term that often gets thrown around unnecessarily, but not in the case of Mark Robins.

Whilst there was no perfect ending, you cannot fault all the effort and achievements from Mark Robins whilst being manager of our club.

Deserves a statue IMO.

We’ve had 5 of them in defence this season

That's the thing - I'm not really down about it; as others have pointed out - it is only football. It's more that I've really enjoyed the past few years, was invested in the Robins/CCFC journey and still had high hopes for this season. Obviously we live in hope but I can't help but feel the good times are over and we are heading back to the grind of the 00s.

Robins is distrustful of the media. There were run ins with Turner at the CET. His post match interviews on CWR were rambling match reports

When he's asked more pressing questions, injury updates, performance levels or transfer business he shuts it down immediately, with short, snappy answers.

wise old fox!

However, a very gentlemanly interview today. Seems he’s genuinely sad to have left the club, and resisted any digs at King.

I think his interviews this year have often alluded to his dissatisfaction with what was going behind the scenes saying things like loans not my remit. Cannot discuss an injury due to data protection? Yesterday he had a dig that he was restricted to what he could say.

This.

The last 7 years have been a joy. Win or lose I've been fully invested in the journey and direction. And full of the belief that Robins would get us there eventually, and by playing the right way.

Really does feel like a return to the madness/normality of the managerial merry-go-round and lunatic owners. Hope I'm wrong, but Doug has outed himself as either another nutjob or an unexpected football genius (he's about to appoint Lampard, so I'll leave it up to you to decide which one is most likely).

Maybe, just a theory, the last few years of an apathetic Sisu will prove to be some of the most stable years in terms of ownership in the last 30 years. At least football wise anyway.

Did you want Robins to get the sack? If so when did you decide he had to go and why?

I agree a statue is going a bit far at this moment in time. But it would be good to have his name added somewhere. Maybe name an approach to the ground after him. When he joined us there was a serious worry we could fall out of the FL or even not exist in our present state. Taken out of our city twice. Nobody thought we had a chance to get back to the Championship. To get within penalties of the Prem?

Yes he has left our club but won't be forgotten about for a long time.

So you're not arsed about the football club you support because the Manager has gone?

There's a game tomorrow, no different regardless of who is in the dugout when it comes to looking forward to it.

I see what you’re tying to say, but I disagree.

Of course who is in the dugout impacts your excitement levels. Did you ‘look forward’ to going to games in the L1 relegation season with Slade in charge as much as games at the back end of the play off season?

Directly and indirectly the manager impacts how much fans look forward to a game.

Excitement and supporting the team are different things.

I'm not against a statue , but it doesn't just have to be a statue , it could have been a stand name (based on stadium ownership or agreement ) could be a memorial ( if they've passed ) or it could be a road name or a nice plaque somewhere.

I do believe robins should be honoured at some point in the future for his work at coventry city and bringing back a club and helping a city love and support it's club again .

It's a unique achievement in modern football for me

I get why you are questioning that and it is fair enough. Obviously it is an easy throw away line when your not making that decision. In reality if I was the owner I would take the easy money - you'd be an idiot not to but I am a fan of Coventry City not a fan of the Premier League. Obviously I want us to win things but the journey is as important as the destination. Ultimately and above all else I want a club we can be proud of.

So no, not really. In reality I take promotion but doing things in the right way is important to me. It still urks me that we gave the sex offender money for example and I do value having a figurehead with such grace and respectability within the game.

I also should concede that Lampard also speaks really well and it wasn't my intention to criticise him or king above.

Just build a statue without a face, then everyone can just pretend it's a statue of Robins.
Or a statue of Grendel.
