One thing I’ve always admired about Robins is his stoicism.

And now we are back on the managerial merry-go-round. We probably won’t have another manager like Robins in my lifetime, absolute legend

It’s old school dignity isn’t it ? like Mowbray or Hodgson. A rare attribute these days.

It’s why Doug’s opening statement was such a shock- and probably why he gambled on Robins not rebutting it . Might be true what King said but very cynical.

This genuinely makes me sad.

Hearing him speak in a capacity that isn’t our manager is odd.

Still, I’m sure someone will quote the back end of last season as justification.

I know people are going to 'it's CCFC not Robins FC - you melt!' me for this but watching that video I had this sudden realisation that I probably wouldn't have sacked him even if Lampard came with guaranteed quick win promotion. It was a journey we were on together - it kinda feels like I've shanked a mate in search of glory.

The more I think about that conference the more issues it raises and the less I like it. I think it's best I just forget it ever happened.

What it does show is even with absolute chaos going on in every other facet of the club having managerial stability brought quite a bit of calmness to the club.
Chances are we won't see a managerial tenure that long for some time if ever but that's just the modern game.

I think there’s more to it than that tbh. For example, he would always talk about focussing on what you can control not what you can’t, accepting there will always been change and challenges and not complaining about it.

He was the perfect personality for what the club was going through. Arguably not perfect for what comes next but that doesn’t have to tarnish his legacy.

It would be difficult to find a more dignified classy individual working in football. The manner in which Robins has handled this situation speaks volumes for him . He òbviously had a great affinity with the supporters and that part of the club I think he will miss hugely. I hope that when he returns to football in a managerial capacity wherever he goes the supporters will appreciate him as much as we have.
I did believe that it was time for a change but MR has been magnificent for this club and I wish him every success and all the very best.

I would of liked him to go into fuming fan mode publically after the Haji offside.
Ran on to the pitch even , Turkey style.
Just the once Mark, you would definitely of been forgiven by the world of football.

Yep more class in his little finger than Doug showed for the first 15 mins of the discussion!
Having said that he did face the fans and was gracious and lovely with some younger fans after on the Monday

I think it might need a bit of a reality check, I know that he was the manager a long time and we had good times but the stuff about "hearing his voice". He was still the manager 2 weeks ago and he hasn't died.

Get me a voice clip of my dad who died when I was young and let me hear that and it would actually be surreal.

Not sure what planet some people are on sometimes.

Lampard relegates us.

Doug sells up.

Robins comes back for L1 Promotion 2: This time it’s personal and we get a proper promotion celebration.

Also they bring back Mars Planets.

Robins was sacked for a defeat to the worst Chanpionship side to ever play at the CBS.

But he’s paid his debt, and now he’s going to get revenge, on Button Albion.

I think Robins did more for this club than anyone in decades, and IMHO dismissing him was unfair, rash and an unnecessary risk to the club.

However I'm with you on this point Nick. Jimmy Hill created the Sky Blues, galvanised the whole city in support of the club, and transformed the whole of football itself in a number of ways. His statue makes sense. Mark Robins was an absolute gem of a manager, and deserves some kind of permanent recognition. But not a statue IMHO.

King was in a hard position. To be fair to him, he let Viveash leave quietly in the summer, and backed Robins to bring in his new coaching team. He had months of keyboard warriors saying that he was going behind Robins back, forced Adi out and slapped a new coaching structure down.

What I loved about Robins was how he always acted with such grace and humility. And it showed in his teams too. We never sunk to the standards of 90% of our opponents with obvious time wasting, fouling, diving, and surrounding referees.

We had an unbelievably successful 7 years and did it playing the right way, and a manager representing us impeccably.
