Although it has not been officially confirmed, Coventry fans were able to extrapolate the information from a Sky Sports News video showing Marcus Tudgay training with the team.

Coventry boss Steven Pressley recently revealed he was looking to add four new strikers to his squad before the new season. It seems as if former Barnsley and Nottingham Forest striker Tudgay is being considered as an option.

    Just Sign him up!!

What a signing Tudgay could be if he could recapture some of the magic he used to have..

If SP manages to pull this one off, I'm sure the majority of fans would be excited. It would certainly raise the levels of optimism for next season. I still feel he needs at least one other proven striker to play alongside him but feeling a lot happier than I was 24 hours ago. A 20 goal striker from league 1 or 2 would definitely be worth splashing some cash on!

Not seen him play for a few years, seems like he needs to get settled somewhere though been on loan to Barnsley twice and Charlton so might be worth a punt

Fantastic signing this if it's true, one player I asked for in my "2 strikers on trial thread" can't see us not being able to afford him with what we've trimmed of the wage bill this summer and the money we have from Wilson etc.. Great work Pressley if true! PUSB

Is there any more to this than someone saying they spotted him in the background while Pressley being interviewed on Sky Sports currently ?

I like the sound of Tudgay, he always seemed to be knocking them in at Sheff Weds - but then looking at the stats he's actually not that prolific, a one-in-four kind of striker.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Tudgay

Not that I'm slating him before he signs - he's consistently played at a level above ours, and at 31 isn't exactly past it. He'd certainly bring a lot of experience to the team.

Why do we need to always look at the past form of every striker whom we are linked with / potentially signing.

Have we ever thought that that player may of had issues at the time, or the team around him did not supply the right type of service.

I remember another ex forest striker with a similar record who came here... the rest is history.

OK time to stop this now.

Tudgay is 31, we have a good idea of his ability now. It's a long enough time period to smooth out things like the odd bad day.

McGoldrick was 24 and has consistently scored at this level. His worst period was at Forest, where a division above he still averaged a goal every 3 starts.

Stop what? People going on about past clubs and records? who gives a shit about past records, they could come here and score 30 or come here and score 5 who cares, at least we are bringing added quality, was well liked at Sheff Wed.

Also Mcgoldrick record was - [TABLE="class: infobox vcard, width: 22"]

That certainly is not 1 every 3 starts!!! check facts first.

What if a players past record was having both his legs amputated after a horrific helicopter crash?

What's wrong with looking at the past form of a player? If you're trying to analyse how well he might do, it seems fair enough to me. I'm not saying he'll be a disaster here, but I think it's fair enough to have a look. What's the problem?

Totally agree with what you say. Also, looking at it from a different angle. How many players have we signed in the past 30 years, with a big reputation, actually perform for us. The reason we are in Div 1 does have something to do with the players and our relegation from the premier to the championship was done not by having a team of nobodies but by 'big name players'.

So are we making the case that you can never judge a players performance because they might just have been having a few bad years?

Makes the entire world transfer market kinda pointless doesn't it?

I mean who says Manset is worth less than Messi? Maybe he's just having a really bad day.

As they say. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

He's very similar to Clarke really. Record at this level better than in the Championship.

Edit - actually no. His record in in the Championship is better than L1 - 82 in 347

I am sorry I forgot we are waiting on Ronaldo to agree a deal, and Drogba to turn up at Ryton. How silly of me.

Get a grip people.. We are league one, we are where we are, and Tudgay would be a very good addition right now, would bring a wealth of experience, and as a individual who has played and coached the game, would score goals within the formation and tactics we play. Simple as that.

Now it's becoming a little bit more realistic! Quite excited by this one I must say. A Couple more strikers and another central midfielder (plus a return to the Ricoh) could well give me a few positive pangs for 2014/15! :claping hands:

Tudgay would indeed be a fine addition.

Dare I say it, but we actually seem to be doing some decent work this offseason (the loss of Wilson notwithstanding).

Tudgay's a great addition. His record (:p) suggests somewhere between 15-20 goals at this level.

My point wasn't about him, but about the idea that we can't judge a players performance by looking at his past record.

Yes hence my original post about lets not bother looking at what they have and have not done, what they do in a CCFC shirt is what matters most. :-)

Had good streak at Sheff Wednesday before his Forest move.

I'd be happy if he signed

LB87, how many fans go away? 500 - 1,000 is the average most away games. I go to the majority of away games, but it is expensive for the average fan. You can kiss goodbye to £50 no problem. For a lot of people that's beyond them.

Sorry, slightly misleading headline he will be going to Italy to prove himself and will play against Nuneaton. Nothing to see here move along
