I was just wondering what peoples views were on our main rivals?
As a fairly young supporter i have only experienced the 'M69' derby and to a certain extent see them as our main rivals. However it seems that most older fans see Villa as our main rivals. Just wondering what peoples views were on the subject?
Just not much to talk about tonight, was expecting to be discussing our new signing, which surprise surprise CET got wrong again!

I think an issue with the M69 derby is that no1 ever seems to have branging rights, as its always draws lol

For years it was wolves, not really my era but understand why! i have allways hated the villa, still do. i suppose since we have dropped out the limelight fester are the new ones!!
For the younger ones, believe me a game against the villa would make the fester games come accross as a pre season friendly!!

used to be Villa but to be fair was very one sided. Now for me, nobody. Really don't feel the Leicester thing sadly.

I've only been supporting Cov since we've been at the Ricoh so for me it would be Leicester, however it's gotta be Brum. Keep ending up with our team!

On a personal level its Villa. My wife, inlaws and many friends support them, but they are bigger and not geographically right for us its just that we remained the only two west midlands top flight teams for a number of years. It should really be Leicester as Derby and Forest have eachother and we are close, share a crossover in fans areas and are similar size and type of clubs but tbh I'm not massively bothered about anyone or anything other than our own failings

Villa are THE local rivals but sadly not in our division just now. It kinda moved to Wolves more during the Jimmy Hill period what with the second division title and that famous 54,000 at Highfield road back in 1967.
Wolves too though have been up and down the divisions and we were there at the top division for 34 years so swung back to Villa for many a year.
Here down in the Championship, Leicester seem to be the local rival and still are to an extent. Really depends on who's in who's division right?
WBA and Brum were also local rival games but Villa are the standard bearer of this right to be called our greatest local rival and derby game.

I started watching City in the 90's so I think Villa are our main rivals. I've always had Villa mates so the banter is there and I think the atmosphere would be electric if we played them again. M69 derbies are mostly dull affairs, not helped my their mute following. Also nearly every Leicester fan I've met has been a complete melt.

for me its the vile!!

I remember going to villa park in the FA cup with a 1-0 win courtesy of Moldovans goal

Unfortunately it was also memorable for the wrong reason's when some rather upset villa fans decide to bottle my car (with us in it) on the way out!! bye bye sunroof and rear windscreen

At one time villa but not anymore, they never thought that of us and we all thought it wa a big scalp back in the day. Like it or not they have always been a bigger club and that for me is what made that rivalry special.

it's Leicester now hands down.

First game as a young boy, my old man took me to Villa at home , for me it will always be them.

But as we've not played them for 10 years or so i've adapted my disgust and hatred towards the inbreds,

Exactly the same for me, used to be villa in the premier league but that was very one sided and they kept stealing our best players. Now its Leicester!!

Villa for me, as a kid when we used to play them in the premiership and when Mo Konjic scored against them.
I miss those days.

With Villa, it was always a one sided rivalry, they never seemd to care that much. With Leicester, it's a more even handed rivalry, we've both been a bit pish over the years.

Villa will always be the team I want to beat, but I dislike Leicester more. I've actually met a few sound Villa fans, can't say the same for Leicester.

I agree with that i've got a good friend at uni who's a villa fan but everyother incester fan i've ever spoke to seem to be gormless with a hint of unneccesary arrogance ( for reasons i do not know, probably because they've won two micky mouse cups!)

when did Konjic score against the villa?

I seem to remember him taking ages before getting a goal for us, and we had been in this league for a while when it happened

Will always be the villa for me! But Leicester seem to be the only ones that are half bothered that we exist.

Leicester.

Always has been, always will be.

Villa don't really care about us.

As has been stated, Villa don't care a jot for us, their rivals are Brum. Derby and Forest is the big East Midlands derby, do that leaves Leicsum as our main rivals.

I was brought up watching us compete with Villa, but Leicsum will always be the big one as far as I'm concerned.

My Stepson is a Villa fan in his 20's and interestingly for him and his mates they see us as their main rivals. As he says, until recently they never played against the Blues because
they were never in the same division, therefore we were their big derby and they can't wait to play us again.

For my part, my dad always told me that Leicester were our biggest rivals, but for the same reason, we haven't played them enough until recently to justify that intensity.

However, anyone who was at Filbert Street to see us destroy them 5-0 to send them down from Div 1 in 1987 will remember the intensity and how much it meant that night.
It was f*****g brilliant!

Which is the biggest rivalry though?

I don't care, I hate both of them equally!

Are you thinking of Moldovan instead?

For me, it's always been Leicester. Villa is kind of a one sided rivalry. My second hated team is Wolves, my dad has said (like some of the older posters on here) that they we're the main rival back in the day.

Only 18 but Dad always brought me up thinking Villa were our rivals. I just like the Birmingham and Leicester games because of the high gates and atmosphere.

Leicester for me. Living in barwell, most of the idiots round here support incester. Can remember the days though when it was villa. Mickey Quinn on boxing day, mind you keane scoring against villa was good also. Think it was midweek?
