I remember a home game (no idea when or who against, I was v young at the time) where my only memory is the crowd turning on Strachan for not taking Hedman off when he was quite clearly injured and struggling to play on. Paul Williams had to take the goal kicks. That is all.

That was home to Middlesborough. hedman could hardly move. We lost 1-0 from a Dean Gordon grass cutter from miles out - Hedman simply couldnt move across to it. That was the day I realised how stubborn Strachan was.

The sub keeper was a young Chris Kirkland obviously deemed not good enough by Mr Strachan

Good goalkeeper all round. His shot stopping was very good. Much better goalkeeper than Westwood, and I'd agree the best keeper we've had here for years. Kirkland could have been better but chronic injuries ruined that.

hedman was solid for a few years and gave the team confidence. He lost it towards the end though and was poor once we were relegated.
I remember a Celtic supporter being delighted they took him off us. I tried to tell him but he didnt listen.
Talk of drug problems and debt dogged the end of his career.

I can remember the first time I saw his wife it was in a magazine and I think it might have been Hello which would mean it was at the hairdressers. I also remember him facing down an angry pitch invader at I think Preston North End. He wasn't flustered at all and really rather calm about it when I would have been shouting at stewards to get him off and running away. Some great saves but also some howlers.

That was a good bit of business we did selling Kirkland given the injuries he ended up with.

Huddinge Sweden, July 1979. The interminable nights had transformed to endless day and the city was alive. Blondes were oozing from every corner of the Province; the sound of Abba's music playing from every building. These were halcyon days and they felt like they would last forever. I had recently returned from the Norwegian front and the entire country was celebrating. Rounds of rotten fish were being swigged in every hostelry and the streets were jammed with Saabs. A small boy approached me from behind an IKEA store, nervously playing with a small packet of white powder through his hands. If I'd known then how this was to play out I would have turned then and walked briskly back into the meat ball shop. This is my story...

Many thanks for all your help guys. The piece is now published and you can read it here: https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/blast-past-no-10-magnus-094054894.html

I credited the site rather than individual posters as they gets a bit messy. Unfortunately they were no pics of Mrs Hedman in our image library!

Shane you didn't point out the previous understudy to him - John Filan - should have been retained as he was an infinitely better keeper. Hedman hardly made an appearance after leaving us.

A flatter to deceive keeper if ever one existed.

It's not really that kind of price though Is It Grendel.
The guy has chosen Headman as his subject matter,It doesn't go that deep Into the workings at CCFC and Is weighted with fans anecdotal views.
