Now, this is a rumour I heard, so if you don't like rumours I wouldn't read it!

Heard we're after him and Wednesday don't want him anymore. Also, Swindon after him. Wouldn't another signing with them tip them over ffp again though?

This was posted up on the Coventry FB page.

James Nursey @JamesNursey
Re: #SWFC striker Gary Madine, they will let him go. Swindon trying to scrape cash together to buy him. #ccfc Coventry also interested

Here's a link to their page just in case you think im spouting shite

http://www.facebook.com/TheSkyBlues?ref=stream

He's scored 25 goals in 79 appearances for Wednesday since January 2011.

P.S. For those not sure who James Nursey is. He's the Daily Mirror sports journalist. You can follow him on twitter at @JamesNursey

Have to agree with KG82 here!

We have Leon Clarke & Elliot who seem the most likely to score for us.

O'Donovan's last goal was for the under 21's and Cody is at Gillingham!

Another striker would be perfect!

Madine wouldn't be a bad signing if SISU have the money for his wages.

Also this lad that's been on trial. If Robins likes what he sees, we'd only have to agree wages as he's a free agent!

We had madine on our books before and he couldnt hit a barn door!! That kind of player doesnt impress me and strike me as a "good" addition to a sucessful team at the moment! I only agree with adding if we are adding better than what we already have!

I remember thinking Madine showed more in his brief cameos for us than whoever it was we were starting at the time. Isn't he a dickhead or gets in trouble a lot or something though?

Fair comment but it still doesn't address the issue that we don't have any other strikers capable of scoring apart from Leon Clarke & Elliot!

And Madine was only on loan.

He wasn't ours! Someone like Robin's could get something out of him!

But in Robins we trust!

Didn't he score 17/18 goals last year in league 1?

I liked him when he was on loan, was only a youngster and was playing in a CC team. I genuinely believe we need a bit of physical presence to get out of this league. Concede too many from corners and don't score enough from set pieces. That strike rate is impressive.

Madine has come on in leaps and bounds since he was here on loan.
He looked very impressive for Wednesday last season and would give us a different option upfront as a big bustling striker who seems pretty mobile for his size.
Sign him up I say.................................

Prefer Ramon Nunez on a free, busy player and would fit into our system, could play as a Second striker or wide mid,,, good attacking option....

nunez is awesome! would love him to sign but also madine is a young and accomplished striker at this level. he'd do a great job! not sure about that ex-chelsea striker/ defensive mid obviously can;t be that good if he could barely scrape a start for oxford! although he is still young

Ok, but that's just a name you've plucked out because he was released. When you said I thought he may have been linked. Madine's actually been linked by a journalist.

Would be a great addition for league 1 but don't think it will go through in time sadly.

Although I've heard Ramon Nunez has been released from Leeds. He is the one who scored a cracker against us in the 1-1 draw in their last season of the championship. Would love him.

So based on a loan spell where the manager never gave him enough time in a match to really show what he could do you've written him off?

You aren't the only one to recall a very young, inexperienced player being thrown into a very bad team playing very badly, usually when chasing a match.
Having "failed" in the Championship at CCFC he went back to Carlisle and scored lots of goals before going to Sheff Wed and scoring loads more in League One. Apart from, allegedly, being a bit of an arse off the pitch, he might well be a good signing for us.

He was 19 and only made 9 sub appearances coming on in the 89th, 90th, 79th, 78th, 84th, 84th, 89th, 79th and 82nd minute. Not sure how you can make a valid assessment on such a young player on those appearances.

He's scored 18 goals a season for the last two seasons.

Looked a much improved player last season. Must be a reason why it hasn't worked out for him this season though?

That's BS, he's Wolves' top goal scorer and they rejected bids for him, Saunders saying 'we won't give our players away'.

Madine is a good mate of Baker's I think as they seem to have a bit of banter on facebook so he may have an influence on whether he comes or not. Seem to recall CC really building him up as a futute star but apart from a few glimpses never really lived up to the billing. He was only 19 though and looks a different player now.
