Mount has had a better start to the season. You guys realise 'Madders' doesn't play for us no more right? Other football please.

True but we have a vested interest in him playing and we’re constantly told by England that sustained success is necessary, not being good over a few games.

Wan Bissaka being a prime example of the big club bias, wasn’t good enough whilst at palace but moves to United he’s straight in.

As I’ve said, could guarentee Lingard is ahead of him and he’s nowhere near as good

Tom Cleverly was quite regularly playing for England at United despite never looking anything special. Got moved on and not seen hide nor hair of him since.

It’s the way it’s always been with England Managers. The preference is to pick from the top four teams. If Maddison moves to Man United he will be in the starting eleven. It’s the same with the age groups. Average youngsters get picked based on the fact they play for one of the top sides. Better plays at smaller academies get overlooked.

Maddison is more likely to finish in the top 4 than Mount this season so the top 4 argument doesn’t really work does it.

I was at the game last night, and though I would have loved to see Maddison come on, it would have meant a whole change in shape in order to accommodate him. Pretty tricky/daft to do, considering that England's front 3 looked capable of scoring at any moment.

Maddison will get his chance at some point this season, loads of time on his side. I don't think it'll be long before he moves to one of the clubs that seem to have a fast track to the England team anyway

It wouldn't he's playing in a midfield three at Leicester at the minute, he could've come on for Barkley and played that role

Come on. We all know the proverbial big 4. Like how Wan Bissaka gets selected as soon as he gets a move to man United

Thought it was terrible that he didn't get a look in over the 2 games, also thought it was bizarre Barkley was selected ahead of Mount, when at Chelsea Mount is playing ahead of him. I was very disappointed in the selection to be honest and Southgate showed he's not yet ready to embrace the technically brilliant imaginative players in the central of the park, preferring the safe steady CDM's who break up play, are technically good, but that's all they offer.
