Good news! Still dont think he should be rushed though!

Coventry City talent James Maddison believes he has come back from his ankle injury stronger than ever. The Sky Blues youngster has returned to full training as he continues his rehabilitation from the injury he picked up against Walsall in August and could be back in the first team within weeks.

He told the club's official website: "It’s a great feeling to be back out training. It has been a tough three months to be honest, but I’m really happy to be back involved on the training pitches.
"Every footballer will tell you when you’re injured it’s hard to take, it’s been tough mentally and physically.

"But obviously I’m glad to see team doing so well, we’re top of the league and that’s what matters.

"I know I started the first four games but it’s going to be tough to get back into the side, the manager has recruited really well but I trust my own ability and hope to work my way back into the side."

He added: "Physically I feel the best I've felt, I've been working hard in the gym doing rehab on my ankle but also working hard on my upper body and that's a big thanks to the physio's who have all helped."

Coventry City's Joe Cole battles for the ball with Rochdale's Jim McNultyMaddison admits that he has been using the opportunity to quiz former England star Joe Cole about his career as the pair working closely to get fit.

The 19-year old continued: "Joe’s a top man, I’ve been working closely with him recently as we both continue to get fit.

"I’ve really enjoyed working with him, obviously I watched him as a kid and I’m constantly asking him about his career and how to improve my game. Even sitting next to him in the changing room is an experience and we’re glad he’s here."

Great news. And for a change we're in a position where we don't have to rush a player as good as him straight back into the team. With things going the way they are there's plenty of time for him to get a few games in with the U21s and some 15 - 30 min run outs as a sub with the first team.

Can't wait to have him back and will always remember the Millwall game where they gave up trying to tackle him and tried (without much joy !) to try and kick him.

Any news on Willis ? Adding Maddison, Willis and a fitter Cole to squad will be like having 3 top quality new signings for 2nd half of season.

Good news for Mads - for Willis not sure how he's going to fit in as we are playing well with wing backs - even Ricketts is trying play make

Ricketts is 34 and has been ever present. I thought he was slightly off it at the weekend. Willis would be a good option.

No, but I kind of get what he means - the way Ricketts and Stokes contribute to attacking moves is probably beyond what Willis could do at full back. Prefer him at centre back myself, where he would be good cover I think.

I rate Maddison as the best young player we have produced in many years, and I really thought our early season form was largely down to him. It only goes to show how brilliantly TM has done to get us at (or near) the top of the league without him. If he comes back strong, it will be like adding a big signing to a team that’s already doing the business.

Personally I hope that they don't rush him back before he's 100 percent. But will be nice to see him on the team sheet again.

Here's hoping. Downside might be if he shines in his first few games back he could become a target of some big names from the premier league. Difficult for the kid or the club to stand up to them

So nice not to be reliant upon the kid having to come straight back in as a match winner.....

slowly slowly catchy promotion
