I don’t see it with Henderson still and it shows how far the quality pool has dropped.

Regarding Maddison I don’t get also. It’s too easy to get a call up these days. I know his a Cov kid etc but hasn’t done enough in my opinion to warrant a call up. It’s not right.

Callum wilson deserves a look in if Maddison has earned a call up.

Wilson is a good Premier League striker but he squanders quite a lot of chances you’d expect him to put him away. In the same category as Troy Deeney, Andre Gray and Danny Ings. Might get a call up if he becomes more clinical and hits double figures this season.

Maddison is a few levels ahead as an all round footballer

Congrats to Maddison. The lad is top drawer. The best thing about our club at this moment is the academy.

(Pretty envious of everything Leicester do/have at present)

Called it the moment he broke into the Coventry side. Most technically gifted player the club has developed.

We've always produced good players, but we've not done well at producing top level, possibly world class players.

Maddison has proved kids from Cov can go on and be an England player and hopefully. It also shows up and coming players in local area that by signing for Coventry academy you have the opportunity to make it to the top.

It probably because (and apologies I might be wrong) he'll be the first Cov born kid in living memory to play for England first team? Evo mentioned Wison - coupled with him being the first Cov born kid to score a prem hat trick, you have to etierh be proud and happy for home born ex players like them .... or wallow in how shit this City is at producing footballers when all we've got to spunk over is something so trivial.

I'm happy mate, for him and our academy. But I'm not going to go overboard like some people.
If that floats their boat then fair play but to me it's fucking embarassing.
Following on from Saturday's Newcastle tops in the City end it's becoming a bit too much.
Hopefully a few smoke bombs and some fisticuffs Saturday will restore some equilibrium. A few fuckers overboard on that boat wouldn't go amiss either and would ensure those of us that haven't drowned can return home with our heads held high.

It's great news for the academy for sure and I'm happy he's made it.

Bayliss next please and then Jack Burroughs.

Messi and Ronaldo are world class and I doubt Maddison will be anything apart from a good footballer.

The word world class gets used to often.

Maradona, cruyff. Moore, best, messi, Ronaldo and bakayoko are world class !

Messi and Ronaldo are the cream of the crop, there are plenty of World class players. He will be world class.

From the first moment I saw him play, i said he would play for England, absolutely fantastic player who will only get better, he has the ability to play at the very top clubs imo, (Real, Barca, Juve, etc.). Massive moment for the James and the club, It would have been nice if Wilson was there with him too. The club should be massively proud of producing two cracking players, with hopefully plenty more on there way.

The selection says more about the desperate state of English football thanks to the greed is good premier league than anything else.

We have just got to a WC semi final tbf. I know we had fairly easy ride but it’s more than we’ve achieved previously with world class players everywhere in our team

In no other era would these players even be considered - it’s laughable - how many major football powers would include such players with so limited experience. They’d never get a look in in Spain or Germany.

Some astonishing comments about both Maddison and Henderson. How anyone could have watched either of them play for us and not see international potential is baffling. In Maddison’s case, it needed all of 2 minutes.

If Turner’s right and we only get 10% of JM’s sell-on fee, and 10% of what Norwich receive for England appearances etc., it’s hard to swallow tbh. I’m certainly not rubbing my hands with glee at the “windfall”.

Not saying we could have kept him indefinitely, but we capitulated like a small-town club, and the cumulative money we are going to get out of it wouldn’t pay a Prem player’s wages for more than a few months

Proud that we brought him through and all that, but it fills me with disappointment.

Whatever it’s a feather in the cap for our Acadamy. Hard enough to find players good enough for pro football at all let alone England let’s hope there’s more to come

He can’t win then really. If he selects players with a lot of experience like Lallana, Walcott and Hart he’d be slaughtered for not giving the youngsters a chance, can’t just pick a team on experience sometimes you have to see what’s underneath that. We had a younger team at the WC and it didn’t too badly compared to the star of Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard etc?

Based on the last few months I would probably only take two of Germany’s players in our starting 11.

Sancho been starting games in the Bundesliga & Champions League he’s only 18. Most assists from a player in Europe - 8 in 9 games. I’d rather call him up than say Walcott

Agree.

I hope these young players get at least some game time and are not just there to make up the numbers.

Sink or swim for some players and you'll only know if they are good enough to step up if they get the chance to play international football against good nations.

Seen clips of Sancho and he looks decent. Not sure on Maddison, but the England midfield is weak anyway at the moment, so can't see any reason not to give Maddison some minutes.

Reg If I remember right goalkeeper Reg Matthews was the first City born player to play for England he did it in 1956 when we were playing in the 3rd division south from memory the first player to do so.(class ) .I rated Maddison when I first saw him said so many times on here thought he would go all the way to the top . I think Bayliss will follow the same path just hope we can hold on to him a little bit longer than Maddison and progress further.

I’m sorry.... I’m pleased for him as a person that he has got an England call up but no way has he done enough to deserve it and I certainly cannot think of any time watching either Henderson or Maddison but thinking they will be good footballers. If the England side wasn’t so weak in midfield would either have got a look in and the midfield is where we are so weak.

As I say great for the boy but I’m not sure he is good enough and certainly not good enough for world class ever.

Have you actually seen him play this season? All the ex footballers have been raving about him. With the greatest of respect, I think they have more of an idea what it takes to play at that level

Yeah you are probably right kid, before I was born so thats my excuse lol! I'd like to think Bayliss has a future like this, the unfortunate thing is to find that path it will more than likely be with another club. At least a long deal means we will either see more of his ability here, or at least benefit from any transfer.

Which games? Man United and Liverpool the games on Sky where he was described as the stand out Leicester player in every newspaper?

You must be seeing something completely different to everyone else?

Your opinion he is is worthy of a call up and mine is he isn’t. We agree to disagree.
