Sounds good with Burge in goal and C Thomas in midfield, England world cup winners 2022. It's on!

I think this positivity is getting out of hand now. We have made a brilliant start, and these two have done well. However they are both 18 and neither has played a full season of senior football, and are yet to prove themselves at this level over the course of a full season.
now I'm not trying to be negative, but these are you kids and it's important for them to enjoy football and develop, it has to be a step at a time and let's see how it goes. It's far too early to judge whether either of these will have even successful premiership careers.
i hope they do play for England but it's important not to place all our hopes on them and just to let them develop and enjoy them while they are here and in fine form.

Who's placing hopes? If ever they did play for England it will be many years after either of them wore sky blue. Just light hearted speculation is all.

I would of said that about Jamie vardy. He got in. He played conference and worked his way up.

To say "zero" chance is a bit much.

Yes you have a point. I suppose if the same thread was started quoting Callum Ball and Reece Brown it can't be zero.

If you were to speculate, how do you see Maddison's career playing out? I know it's stupidly early but humour me...what level do you see him settling at?

Doubt it. Andrew Whing for England and Ryan Haynes a superstar.

The truth is he should be at a premier league club now and being loaned out if he's good enough.

Bigiamara was never a premier footballer.

Maddison also wears a stupid thing on his head.

I think that's fair enough. Just short of a bit of pace for me everything else is there. Be great for him to play championship football with us next year

Far too soon to speculate I would say.

There are far too many 18 yr old kids out there that look like they are going to be world beaters, only to then not continue their path and fail to live up to the hype as they get older. There is the skill and ability, but that also has to go in tandem with hard work and application and determination etc.

But then you look at Callum Wilson, who was out at loan at Tamworth and then even when he started to make a break through I don't believe we were talking in terms of a Premiership player or ever playing for England.

I wouldn't begin to speculate on Armstrong and Maddison. They are after all only playing in League One and it is still very, very early days.

Zero chance though is a sweeping statement too far in my opinion.

I saw Maddison come on as a substitute against Watford in pre season last year, the first time I saw him play.

He was only on the pitch for 20 minutes and only touched the ball probably 6 or 7 times but after the game I said to my mate that Maddison will play in the Premier League one day.

I honestly think he is THAT good, a special talent.

Different scouting system back then to be fair. Nothing like the amount of young talent sucked up.

That said the likes of Lellana, Bale, etc who have come through lower league clubs shows it still happens.

I think we'll know more about Maddison at the end if this season. I'm watching Callum Wilson playing in the Prem at the moment and who thought that would happen 3 years ago?

Although as I said earlier I think it's too early the specualte and the positivity is getting out of hand, I have to disagree with you Grendel.
It's too early to speculate either way, and given that he's only 18 he has so much time to develop. using the argument that he hasn't bee not picked up yet doesn't quite work...
Charlie Austin, Jamie vardy, Danny ings, Rickie lambert, Adam lallana, nathaniel clyne, Wilfred zaha, Rio Ferdinand, etc... I could go on all players which weren't brought up in academies by the biggest clubs but have represented England at some point.
Some players are late developers and big clubs don't always get it right, and not all kids are willing to move at a young age to one of the big clubs academies. There isn't a stand out side in the Midlands, and so our talent pool is rather well spread and so we are able to produce good quality youth and there is every chance Maddison will go on to play on the premier league.

That's because by Maddisons age he was a top flight player - like Rooney and Owen - which kind of is my point.

I'm not sure about England but I definitely think Maddison will play in the PL, he's the most natural gifted player I've seen come through the academy.

A little unrelated but what do people think about Delle Alle? I think he can go on to play for England. I thought this when I seen him rip us a new one for MK Dons at Sixfields two years ago?
