If three teams continue in the same manner as they have been doing for the last six months, Leicester will go down to Div 1, Spurs will go down to the championship and the Sky Blues will be promoted to the premiership. This is not a prediction or a wish it is fact. So if Spurs go down, and it is said they would lose £250 million, Madders would obviously be one to leave and as we are looking at Hamer wouldn't Madders be a better shout? He knows the premiership inside out and he wears the sky blues on his arm. What's the thinking?

Who said we're looking at Hamer? Or are you referring to posters on here rather than the club?

It’s a non starter. It’s not even in the realms of possibility.

Even if it was somehow possible, he’s coming off an ACL tear, far too much risk for us. Fair chance we’d make him our highest earner and he’d barely feature.

No chance on the wages he on. For the record don’t think we should sign Hamer for next season either

Why do some fans want to look to the past?

The futures bright, the futures new players.

I think his best days are probably behind him now as well, he's had a pretty indifferent few seasons and now a bad injury.

I always said he'd be our marquee signing when we get back to the Premier League. We need a No.10 too.

We don't want an injury prone expensive liability .

Wouldn’t get any where near the wage he commands, even with his checkered injury record he’s on 100k + a week.

I’d imagine we’d be looking at oversees players who would be pushing the 30-40k per week and hoping to pick out some gems similar to hamer when he first signed who are relatively unknown.

Relative to his peak at Leicester it's a big drop off. Though having said that his numbers last season are better than I thought.

I may be wrong, but wasn't he playing a slightly different role at Tottenham? He was very much a second striker / 10 at Leicester, but has been played a little deeper more of an advanced 8 for Tottenham. So his stats are going to be lower.

Happy to admit I'm wrong about the indifferent recent seasons, obviously one of my extremely rare misperceptions

Excellent player, would love to have someone of his ability at the club, but realistically, we can't afford to throw this kinda money around on one player when we're going to need pritty much a whole new squad.

Is there a world in which it’s a one year loan with a wage split (if they go down, obviously they keep him if they stay up)

I think he's done alright when playing but seems to pick up injuries regularly now even before this big one. Look how many matches he played in 21/22 compared to last 4 seasons.

Last season he reached 45 but that's bumped up with all the Europa League group stage matches. I think Tottenham played 60 matches in total last season.

A great talent , but our sustainability would go out of the window, with his weekly wage .
We have hopefully got our “ wanted “ list , but Doug might not open the purse strings to the extent that Frank would like .
Whatever happens, we are nearly back & looking forward to new challenges.
( at least we don’t need anymore wingers )

Yes we absolutely need an expensive, inconsistent sick note who is a cancer in the dressing room to aid our prem survival hopes!

Fair. Do you think he’d drop down to the championship or you think they’d just sell to a bigger club than us?
