There are, however, two other bids in the offing. Little is known from one about a Saudi group, but American millionaire Preston Haskell IV has tabled a higher bid than GFH Capital and has offered to spend £10m in the January transfer window. Bates may feel, however, that he is too committed to GFH after the long drawn out negotiations.

His father, Preston Haskell III (natch) set up a successful construction company in Florida and is a minority owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars NFL team. Preston Haskell IV made his money dealing in real estate in Moscow which requires a certain toughness and initiative. Would he be a better owner of Leeds?

Are you a year behind? Or is it me missing something? Leeds are already owned by GFH Capital...so PH4 can't outbid them. Bates is completely out of the picture at Leeds now (or so I thought).
The last I heard was that there is a consortium offer to invest quite heavily...previous owners & players have been stated by GFH as not being involved.
I'm baffled.

Just how the idea that Mr Haskell could not have afforded us.
doesn't really add up.

When all the info suggests that he has 150 million plus wealth.

Think it is more likely that SISU over bid for their own debt, a widely accepted opinion on here, bar a couple of the usual fantasists as usual.

Also all I can seem to find on Leeds was he put in a higher bid but he was too late to the party. So again nothing to suggest he did not have the money.

Also can I question what role did did Brendan Guilfoyle play in regards to Mr Haskells bid for Leeds?

Rfc

He said the four people wanting to buy CCFC wanted to buy the Ricoh but the council would not sell.

I pointed out Haskell felt he could make money by owning CCFC and half of ACL.

He and a few others say Haskell did not have the money for this or Leeds

proved wrong? What are you on about?
Seriously who gives a toss about Haskell? Where is he and his band of not so merry men?
I don't have an argument regarding Haskell to be proved wrong about, because he's a nonentity. Therefore stop wittering on about crap.

The problem with the above comments true or not is:
We are still owned by SISU
We are playing in Northampton
There is no sign of us returning to the Ricoh
There is no sign of us being able to purchase suitable land in the Coventry area.

Sorry Grendel I think I have missed your answer of what was Mr Guilfoyle's role with Mr Haskell's bid for Leeds? Seeing as you favour trotting out how Mr Haskell could never had afforded us in the first place?

Fortunately you have not been dismissing Haskell suggesting he could not afford Leeds or Coventry or using Mr Guilfoyle as the reason why this is fact.

What..? Are you mad? Everyone else seems to be looking backwards & scoring points, & arguing about what might have been, or could have been...& you come along with all this actual factual as it is stuff?!

Fantasists? It was on the radio, we haven't made it up.

I have no idea what his role was with Leeds but he did investigate directors.

To be honest, he's got that much cash and 1/2 of ACL is that much of a gold mine I'm surprised he's not just bought half of ACL anyway.

So he played no role in either take over.
Yet he is quoted as the reason why it is fact that Mr Haskell could not afford us or Leeds.

Yet we then ignore all the other sources that suggest he has more than a 150 million fortune.
That fits.....

My bad, actually he did, he was joint administrator for Leeds.

On 19 March, 2004, Garry Wilson and Alan Bloom, both Partners in Ernst & Young LLP, and Brendan Guilfoyle of The P&A Partnership were appointed as joint adminstrators of Leeds United plc and Leeds United Holdings Limited, a subsidiary company.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2004/mar/19/newsstory.sport12

But hey ho, obviously knows nothing about it.

Think you would need to ask him that one.

The fact that that was what his plan was says he felt he could.
