Do we really want a totalitarian approach to who can attend our matches?

Remember the days of climbing fences, standing on pylons, factory roofs etc just to watch a match? Glory days. But now we have sniveling little grasses, trying to stop people watching the team.

Life is generally unfair. But there are ways in which to tilt it more in your favour - you either embrace that or spend your life whining about it.

so you think it’s right the club are banning fans for selling on tickets?

As I’ve said, unless it involves profiteering/abuse of concession pricing, or is happening on an industrial scale then no. But in terms of conviction rate it’s not exactly a widespread issue is it?

Who has grassed? The people who have their tickets cancelled have posted about it on forums where the club is monitoring for these things,

No one here has, or has said they are going to tell the club anyone?

with tickets now a supply and demand environment the club will be clamping down a lot more on this

fans getting bans from the club will increase as a result because they know someone else will take the ticket

let’s hope when that does happen you won’t hear me saying I told you so

At Oxford the pair of them stood up at the front blocking the view of some disabled supported. Despite being asked to either sit down or move they refused to do so.

At Wembley a couple of Japanese supporters I saw were decked out in shirts, souvenirs, scarfs, bags. Etc.. That’s the scope of what it means (For many) to be a ‘true’ united fan.

Yeah I thought it was all okay. On away tickets while I’m sure it has to be monitored more harshly. I don’t see the big issue here. If his mate has clocked he’s coming back on holiday and bought him a ticket, that’s life no?

Some weird arguments here. Players are given tickets to offload to friends and family. Fadz got a ticket as a friend of a player, that ticket would never have gone to a fan.

If someone is stupid enough to give up a ticket to a vital game of a season for some random then they're an idiot. Is the guy expecting a round of applause against Boro or something?

As someone who wanted to go to Luton but missed out (1700+ points) I'm really not concerned, this is one of those games that I expected would be touch and go, it is what it is. Pointless whining about it. It'll happen so infrequently that it's not worth the club chasing it up etc. The point system works well imo, if you want to be front of the queue then you need to be there every week and it's that simple, I have neither the will nor desire to follow the club up and down the country every other Tuesday and Saturday. As a result, I'll miss out on small allocations.

If anyone flies thousands of miles to see city once a season they deserve a ticket. Direct from the club.

you missed one but out of you well reasoned response

the club are now clamping down on passing on tickets. as a result it sets a precedent to either clamp down on all or not at all

that’s the issue many have

This applies as much to, say, Raphael Rodrigues as it does to whoever gave this Argentinian kid a ticket. I would rather the ticket went to me, but to freak out about it is bizarre.

again. how?

a player is a representative of the club who get perks ie ticket for friends or family

Who is freaking out? I’m going Saturday so no water of my back but if I missed out on 1800 points I would be annoyed knowing someone got a ticket, no intention going the game and passed it onto a fair weather fan

And a fan with loads of supporter points enjoys the perk of being able to acquire a ticket for an in-demand game that might subsequently go to someone else. It’s no big deal.

It doesn't but thanks for playing.

Why do you keep saying tickets reserved for players friends and family which will only ever go on sale if they are taken up are the same as tickets sold by the club to fans?

This is not a question of if is it okay to give someone else a ticket you brought, they are just 2 separated ticket streams.

which then goes against what the club are clamping down on

again do you think the club are right to banning fans for passing on tickets if they don’t go.

Simple question

It’s a question of whether it’s worth moaning about people with status giving tickets to people without status. In all cases, I would rather that tickets went to fans instead but hey ho.

but shouldnt the club be cancelling the order then as he’s selling it on?
Has he sold it or has he given it because they're two very different things. Re-sale of football tickets isn't allowed, gifting is tolerated. The club have said at the supporters group meetings in the past that while passing your ticket to someone else technically isn't allowed as long as they are in the same price category (ie you aren't trying to get an adult in on a kids ticket) nothing will be done

I've no idea why people are getting themselves so worked up about one ticket. That would be mental if there was a belief that every single ticket goes to supporters with the most points. We all know that isn't true for us or for any event on the planet. Have people got something against this guy in particular as there's tickets being passed around every game and nobody seems to give a shit.

I would suggest there's a bit of difference between giving someone you know a ticket and advertising one for sale on social media to anyone who wants it, especially when he club have restrictions in place to stop people without a previous purchase history being able to buy.

Maybe in future you should have to answer questions on the clubs history before you can buy a ticket. Anyone who gets an answer wrong can be hung in the centre circle at half time, be more exciting than kick it for a ticket.

I gave my STs to a Pompey fan once to watch the game when I couldn’t go. But his kids ended up City fans. If they now lend me their season ticket am I morally neutral?

I hate grassing but the principal remains the same

if the club are proactively looking and clamping down on this then if it’s being glorified on the internet the club should respond accordingly
