I would be worried if Mourinho gets a job in the summer... I have never seen a winger here as good as him track back and defend and regain possession. Would be a Jose dream player!

Excellent news if true.

Not for me he has no finished product no cross as it needs to be on his left foot or always needs an extra touch before a shot. Would like try him down the left see how that works but to late now.

If there is, don't think we'd be getting them! As I've said before, I've rarely seen a player so willing to go back for more after taking a whack off the opposition, plus he never lets opponents get a minute's rest.

Being left footed I would like to see him on the left . . Wakefield on the right and say to Jordy either make it as a striker or move him on . . If the reported money jordy is on is true that would be a fair chunk to reinvest in playing squad.

Alot of ifs and buts and maybes but everybody knows Thomas is guna cut inside from the right at least on the left he can take it to the byline

I'm not saying this is true but an article I read said he is the highest earner at the club . . It showed all the league one clubs and there top earners it said it was 4k a week.
If that is true it is a hell of alot

I find it really hard to believe Jordy Hiwula is on 4k a week. Not a chance

If he signs on a perm I'd like to see him on the left next season, he gets to the byline with ease, I think he could focus on crossing and being a traditional winger, he lacks composure in front of goal at the moment.

IF Jones comes back and we get Bright in again, this would be very decent...

----------------Hiwula---------------
Thomas------Bright--------Jones
---------Shipley-----Kelly----------

I'd agree with this to an extent, although I disagree entirely about moving Hiwula on as he has goals in him, something that we're already desperately short on.

I understand the logic of putting wrong footed players on either wing so they can cut inside - something Hiwula has benefitted from on several occasions this season - but I'd agree that having a left footed player on the right and a right footed player on the left has cost us clear cut chances this season. E.g. Thomas against Portsmouth.

Take Thomas as a case in point. Even if he does cut inside, 9 times out of 10 he doesn't possess the final product to execute an effective cross or shot. Although it's to a less of an extent, the same issues lie with Hiwula at times. On countless occasions he's backed out from striking the ball first time and subsequently wasted a goalscoring chance by spending valuable seconds attempting to shift the ball onto his right. Slight contradiction from my end I know as Hiwula has scored goals by cutting inside but it's just not frequent enough to justify having him out on the left at times. E.g. Yesterday vs. Shrewsbury.

Regardless, I'd keep Hiwula where he is, as despite his inconsistencies you cannot argue with his goalscoring record this season. Thomas has become predictable though, but as MR has stated in the press, I think it's just a classic case of a young player burning out.

Need to have inverted wingers in this system. If you have more traditional wingers then you allow the defenders to concentrate on the centre forward and the CMs on the number 10 meaning we’re always outnumbered around the box. You’re putting massive pressure on the one CF to score all the goals then.

Thomas has been wasteful but frustrating because he gets himself in those positions but it’s his first full season as a pro. Hiwula is our top scorer and not even played all season. I think we’re ok.

Edit: I like to think football manager have done their research. £5k a week.

Exactly what I was going to say, need the wingers to cut inside to not leave the CF isolated. You can then have your full backs overlapping to provide the width if needed. Wingers getting crosses in from the byline is a bit outdated and tends to only work in a rigid 4-4-2, which not many teams employ these days.

People’s expectations of strikers are ridiculous. Some people seem to expect every striker to score 25 a season or they’re shit and need to be got rid of.

Ditto some people’s understanding of football not played in a 442.

I heard podcast where they interviewed Miles Jacobsen, and he said they actually put the correct wages into the game at one time, but a chairman got peed off because one of his players had a match highest earner clause and saw another player was on more so kicked off about it. Jacobsen said they decided they needed to take a few liberties with the wages as a result.

Edit: it was the Quickly Kevin podcast.
