It's our club at the end of the day!
Go down the route of staying away and you may as well asset strip ccfc yourself, a hardcore fan base can keep this club ticking over in league two but it needs numbers to kick back on and come back up

Sorry to say but I don't think we , under SISU are at the lowest point .
When they know now many season tickets have been sold , they will sell any player they can to break even !!!
Mark Robins will have to perform a miracle to get us out of Div 2 . very depressing :emoji_cry:

What made it worse was fans rejoiced like we had won the league when it was an embarrassment to stay up by default in reality.

Wholeheartedly agree. Back in those days,we were almost 'unsinkable' and I still thought we were going to stay up when Villa equalised. That day was the first in a while that I'd cried like a child.

Yesterday was something I'd prepared myself for since January, and today, I feel almost nothing...I almost want to feel some shred of sorrow, but nope, nothing.

All we have now is hope, and potentially, a 'phoenix' season that will give us a collective lift.

One thing that we are forgetting about is will we actually be able to attract any decent players to the club after we have cleared out most of this season tripe? Big club or not, most people may have second thoughts if an offer from Coventry is on the table.

History and Attendance mean fuck all when the whistle blows at 15:00. It's the players on the pitch that will decide whether we win or lose, and if we don't have the players to win, then teams like Barnet and Accrington Stanley will beat us and we will get relegated.

This all comes down to organisation and quality of management-budget should not be an issue at this level and if Robins is given the tools he will do the job.

It comes down to the players on the pitch performing, which we haven't seen most of the season. If we aren't winning games then no amount of organization or management will get us promoted. Budget? Ha! Don't make me laugh. Relegation has already slashed whatever budget we had. I wouldn't be surprised to see a completely new first XI next season.

You'd be surprised. Down here at Argyle, our manager put together a whole new squad, bar 3 players and 2 loanees, over the summer after our playoff final capitulation to Wimbledon.

Fans favourites, on decent money (Reuben Reid) were shipped out and our centre halfs ended up at Bristol Rovers and Oxford.

A team can be put together. Our new centre half, Bradley who made the team of the year, was just about to sign for Eastleigh and Fox, a midfielder who passes the ball had just been released by Crewe.

You will need a few enforcers, as you go in any league, but good quality players are available if your manager knows his stuff.

Don't worry if your manager signs 7+ players you've never heard of. That could be a good sign....

Best of luck.

I would imagine a lot if you are paying more than they would get elsewhere and the club is stable so only two things we won't offer.

You are right, it is about the players on the pitch. Our worst team in 60 years has under Robins shown up the galacticos of Bristol Rovers and Peterborough, and competed against the runaway leaders of this God awful division. Heck, even under that baseball-capped buffoon we were within a minute of beating Bolton. You are giving serious kudos to an appalling standard of football at even this level, never mind the one below. It is so poor that we still have the players to compete against any team in League One, and even after downsizing, will be in a similar position against anyone in League 2.

Quality management is what makes or breaks teams at this level, unless there is a serious gulf in quality for good or bad. Even with a fall in crowds next season, we will still draw bigger crowds than most in League 2. I hear your point about treating opposing teams with respect, but for crying out loud, let's not settle for celebrating a point at the Hive.

Feeling alright about next season tbh, we're in a better position to make an immediate return than we were when we got relegated to League One. Even if you look at that League One season, had we sacked Thorn off the second we got relegated and brought Robins in we probably would have gone straight back up. Robins had us vying for the play-offs before he left, and that was after we basically gave ourselves a self-inflicted -10 by messing around with Thorn and Shaw.

If you look at League Two this year it should give you hope as well. Doncaster returned at the first time of asking, while Plymouth, as a poster above has already said, build pretty much an entire new squad and managed to go up as well. What we need to do is start getting business done as soon as possible. No messing around like under Mowbray where we waiting all summer to see about the availability of Premier League loans. Robins should spend the next month or so looking at player who are out of contract in that league and in the lower end of League One/upper end of the Conference and drafting up shortlists etc, and then ASAP we should be approaching players and building a squad. The past month or so has shown that we've got some decent players here, and in hindsight if it wasn't for the diabolical management of Mowbray, Venus and Slade we probably wouldn't be in this league next year.

Well stick me in a ball gown and call me Penelope, but I am quite excited about next season.

I am optimistic we will be right up there in the top 6 or higher and therefore I am excited by that prospect.

For me getting relegation from the PL or sixfields were lower points. We'd had so many great escapes that I believe we couldnt go down and that first relegation cut right through me. There was a sense of inevitability in the championship and this season.

Aye, I have no idea how anybody can say otherwise, really.

Even right to kick-off, surely nobody believed it'd *actually* happen, and that somehow a solution'd be found?

Even when in the top flight and the likes of Wolves and Burnley were stumbling down beneath us, could always believe that there was the possibility we'd end up in the bottom division some time - we've been there plenty of times before, after all.

Never, never, thought something like Sixfields would happen, though...

Oh, but the first *really* low point for me was Ipswich, 4-2 defeat, Mackay and Bates came on to join Montgomery and co. The club just seemed dead. Fans couldn't be bothered anymore, we couldn't afford to pay actual players... it was the end, then, too... and it hurt because it was the first time we were nearly dead.

Now it's just numb, an inevitability, and each relegation always has me (naively!) thinking this is the season we find our level to win at!
