Just analysed some of the glaringly obvious but it really sinks in where we are heading come August next year.

Looking at yesterday's gates in our previous "Championship League" and also our new "League 1" (no it's not it's the Third Division) and the following emerged.

Championship

Average 20,455
Highest 35,000
Lowest 9,764

League 1

Average 7,654
Highest 30,043
Lowest 2,212

What a distinctive difference - average attendance drop of two thirds - a low of 2,212 (Rochdale, thankfully relegated) - local derby at Walsall (4,646) and mouth watering clashes with Swindon, Shrewsbury and Crawley Town who also boast massive crowds.

What a reality check.

True but if we were competing in the top six we'd get better gates than this season in the championship

The one that got me was the quality of our 'derby' teams. You look at the likes of Birmingham, Leicester, Forest and the likes. Then you look at what we have next season, Shrewsbury and Walsall. It really does show the distinct drop.

I iknow it's been rubbish, but I really can't see our gates being that different to now. We'll miss the big away followings maybe.

I can see away tickets being difficult to get. I think they will sell very quickly due to the tiny away sheds we now have the luxury of travelling to.

I think that more often than not, for the first season at least, we may get similar away followings. Most of these clubs have never been to the Ricoh so they might find a few extra fans for that day... maybe...

Nothing will stop me from going to away games. An away game costs me on average about £250. A home game is only the price of the coach from Cov to the game less. An away game is more than just the game itself.

I am looking forward to next season now. All the new places to go to and grounds I have never been to. Some away games will be like home games if we can keep our away following up. The atmosphere is going to be great. I just hope we have a club and enough players next season.

Sorry, I didn't phrase that well. I was talking about our home gates. I think we will miss the big followings from the big teams who visit; Brum, Leicester, Leeds, etc.

Averages just tell us the league has smaller grounds. I'd be more interested in what happened to similar teams who went down (Sheff wed, norwich, Soton, etc)

I agree now Torch

We have had more away fans in some games at our place than we will have home fans at some away games. I hope I have worded this in an understandable way

Its a valid point and also remember that most grounds in this league are 12000 capacity or less. With a good run we would still get the same if not more than this season. Now if SISU went and we got even reasonable investment we would get very good gates even at this level,

I cannot envisage more than 11,000, given the expected low away following, It will be interesting to wait and see, but i do think a drop is certain, i htink there will be more leaving our ranks than joining, much depends on the off field politics, Sisu have the power to make or break us,lets hope they out perform their previous efforts.
