It’s fairly smooth, like a thickshake but again depending on how much stuff you put in

Starting Insanity today.... need to lose around one and a half stone. 60 days of Insanity should pritty much get me there I reckon and be a hell of a lot fitter.

If you do it every day then fair play to you!

I’ve lost 17 lbs since mid Jan purely through eating and drinking the right foods. Some gym work too, but mainly weights. A steady 1 1/2 lb off per week is a safe way to lose weight, these fad/crash diets are a licence to fail.

When I put insanity on you really need carpet or a gym matt and lots of space.

It was constant impact on a hard floor so was a killer.

As I travel alot I'll be doing it in hotel rooms/gyms.

When I'm at home it'll probably be on the lawn if it's not raining

It wont be too bad if you can do it on grass! Guess it just depends on where you can see the TV from!

Ah you should be ok then! I could only do it on the TV so it wasn't as easy to move it about and follow it so got a bit fed up after the first couple

I tried it about 5 years ago, but used to suffer shin splints running so that stopped me as there's alot of jogging on the spot.

Don't get them anymore so should be a ok.

Did the Tour de Yorkshire sportive yesterday. Weather wasn’t great, a tough day and some massive climbs but such a great day particularly ending up at the same finish line as the pros with people cheering you on all day. 80 miles with 8000ft of climbing.
Strange how different parts of the country have a view on cycling, down here we are classed as vermin and ran off the roads up there it’s a true love for the sport.

Any chance of a quick bit of advice, been trying the past 4 weeks to lose weight now, but can't seem to shift it. Just need some of advice on what to do to start the weight loss.

My diet is as follows,

Breakfast
2x weetabix + milk
Coffee
Orange juice,

lunch
2 satsumas,
1 apple
2 plums,

Dinner
Chicken/Salmon/Steak
Rice or Potatoes
Veg.

Drinking probably 3 cups of tea a day, then mostly water, and only snacking on fruit, if I need too.

I reckon that I'm hitting around 1500-1800 calories a day.

Fairly active most of the day, like I could walk about 10-15 miles in a shift or could do zero. I've starting running, but only small distances.

Please help!!!

That’s a lot of carbs if you want to lose weight. I would look at avoiding rice when possible and maybe trying yoghurt for breakfast. Fruit isn’t actually that good for weight loss. A salad would be better. Rather than snacking on fruit it would be better to snack on nuts.

I'll give those recommendations and go and see what happens. Thank you.

First observation is that your diet seems reasonable, but there’s a fair bit of sugar in there from fruit. I tend to have a homemade soup for lunch each day (batch-make them 24 portions at a time) which frees up calories to have pretty much what I want for dinner.

Wouldn’t worry too much about having rice to be honest, though different peoples’ bodies need different amounts/types of fuel. Most important thing when it comes to dinner is make sure it’s flavoursome - dry meat, rice and veg just isn’t sustainable as you’ll get sick of it.

You say you do a fair bit of exercise at work during your shift, but do you do anything outside your shift? Weight training is good for boosting metabolism which is going to mean you burn more calories throughout the day.

I do a little running and a little weight training but not too much, I know it's something I need to improve though.

I'm currently 100kgs. I want to get down to at least 95kgs by Christmas.

I’d actually try eating that sort of dinner at lunch and hitting the weights. I’d also have lean meat with salad or vegetables for dinner...as well as meat/fish and veg at lunch.

Try not to get too hung up on how much you weigh and go by the aesthetics. If you start hitting the gym you’ll notice changes relatively quickly..the 5x5 programme is decent for beginners and can be complemented with some cardio and pad work.

There's nothing wrong with rice. It's a great source of energy. Especially if he's walking a lot and trying to run. It'll replenish his glycogen stores and he'll feel better for it the next day. Chewing on a salad might lower his calorie intake but he'll have no energy and it's pissing miserable!

Marty, I'd stick with what you're doing but possibly lower the fruit cos it's full sugar and try to start a few mornings with some eggs because the protein and fat will keep you full for longer.

I try not to bother looking at the scales anymore as I've added in weights every other day so I'm holding onto muscle and water which means the scale moves very slowly. I just measure my waist every week and see how my clothes are fitting.

If I don't watch myself my weight can creep up very quickly and easily. My body type doesn't like wasting calories unfortunately. I went to New York for two weeks and put on two stone. I'm now slowly losing it again while trying to add some strength so it'll take a while.

Eat less and move more.

Reduce your intake to 1500 calories a day and you'll lose 1lb a week without any further deficit or exercise.

Use My Fitness Pal to scan the barcodes of the food/drink you consume to see exactly how much you are really eating.

Full day of eating and drinking. Around 1600 calories including a dessert I wouldn't usually have.

That’s reasonable. How much water do you drink?

That's somewhat true but what weight are you losing? Muscle, bone, fat?

You'll end up looking like a smaller version of yourself which for most is skinny fat.

This also doesn't take into account the mental aspect of losing weight. If it was as simple as just eating less and moving more then we wouldn't have an obesity epidemic.

Close to around 2 litres of water/squash. I do always feel dehydrated actually, but if I drink loads then it just goes right through me.
