I’ve just checked and yes he played that day. All I remember from the game is the Burns goal, probably my favourite ever goal at Portman Road in the near-50 years I’ve been a supporter (sorry!)

We didn't get a sniff out of him in the air at their place in that season.

All I want him to do is get his head on the fucking ball and get it away, something we seem unable to do

A bit of know how how to set up a wall properly for free kicks might be helpful too.

Wall was set up fine. Brannigan moved the ball.

It wasn't. Brannagan had already spied the opportunity and made it even better by moving the ball. The shot went in about a yard from the goal post which was more than the ball was moved so he would have likely scored the way the wall was set up even without moving the ball. Oggy had spotted it during the CWR commentary and Rushworth should have spotted it too.

The distance that the the ball went in from the post has no baring on the distance the ball was moved. It just meant less whip. It was a brilliant freekick. Granted he moved the ball when Rushworth wasn't looking but if one of our players did that it would be lauded as a brilliant cheeky bit of play, not as a GK or defensive cock up.

More likely to go to the Wrexham general hospital forum to say look after him

It was naive of Rushworth not to keep his eye on the ball. However, the gap for Brannagan was already there before he moved the ball, the wall was simply set up badly. It wasn't only me that saw this at the time as Oggy was screaming about this even before Brannagan moved the ball, commenting that it looked like Rushworth had not moved the wall far enough across to cover the near post.

Fair point. It’s a crap way of putting it. What I meant is he’s a local lad and other than time on loan has always been a Town player. I’m guessing it might take him a while to adjust so be patient if he needs it, support him and I’m sure he’ll become a favourite just as he is at Ipswich. Too often fans seem to write a player off before they’ve even played or make their mind up after one game (i admit I’ve done that with McAteer who we have just signed from Leicester, waste of £12m!). He’s not a shy lad and doesn’t seem to lack confidence but give him time to settle if needs it. Gutted he’s leaving.

I want to know when he goes to control it how far does it rebound? our records about 26 feet so far

It was Naive of Rushworth defo, but I think if that goals scored when we hadn't conceded from a set piece then it wouldn't have half the scrutiny it has

Yes, also if Wright had scored that chance at the end of the game and we had won no doubt the criticism levels would be lower.

We’ve seen our back to back promotions team dismantled over the summer. Morsy leaving was tough to take but realistically it was the right time for him and Ipswich. The news that Luke Woolfenden is going though is the toughest to take of them all. I rate him as highly as either of the current centre backs who we’ve paid £15m-£20m for (O’Shea and Greaves). Rarely let us down, outstanding in many games, he’s strong, reads the game well , committed with a great attitude and excellent with the ball at his feet. You’ve got a good one - our loss, your gain.

Can you let him go already ffs. Can look after him once you’ve actually handed him over.

There was no gap. It was a perfect free kick around the wall. If Thomas hadn’t twisted away it wouldn’t have got past him.

He’s not lightning quick but he isn’t slow and reads the game well so is rarely caught out for pace. To say he’s league one standard is laughable. He was pretty much an ever present in the team that went up in 23/24.

I don’t know any Ipswich fans who want him to leave.
Happy with that. I would rather have a defender with a brain than pace in the championship. The premiership you need both but we need to get there first.

Woolf saying we tried to get him in Jan. So a long term target for us we’ve got over the line.

This is a smart signing to strengthen our defence.
