London Supporters Club Chairman Resigns By Covsupport News Service Updated Wednesday, 10th July 2013 Views: 253 Coventry City RSS Feed

City Situation Forces Chairman To Quit

It is with great regret that I have to announce that Jonathan Strange has resigned as chairman of Coventry City London Supporters' Club. After thirty-seven years, the last ten as chairman, he has also resigned his membership.

“I would like to thank Jon for his hard work and efforts over the past 10 years as chairman. He will be greatly missed” said Colin Henderson, Deputy Chairman, who will act as interim chairman pending appointment of a replacement.

“I feel strongly that whilst I deplore as much as anybody the fact that the Sky Blues will not be playing in Coventry next season, it is not for CCLSC as a supporters' club to make it its business how members spend their money and to call on members not to buy season tickets and club merchandise.

"I have no desire to remain part of a supporters' club that is prepared to expose members to the risk of stigmatisation by other members for legitimately exercising their right to support the football club in whatever legal way they may choose,” said Jon Strange.

Interesting reason. A 180 take on the stance of the Trust. Presume it is HIS personal view rather than that of the rest of the London supporters, otherwise why resign.

United we stand, but divided we fall - SISU will love this

think their statement was spot on, sounds like he wasn't in agreement and got outvoted and now he's gone off in a huff.

No pun intended?

Anyway, the statement they released did encourage no spending at the club, but it was hidden a little more subtly than most.

I notice now that the statement was signed by the deputy.
It demonstrates that he did not accept that starving the club will help!

He had to resign because a lot of his group thought it was the correct thing to do.
