Do you think we will get any in this summer ?.
Maybe a young premier league right back?
Would be fantastic to achieve promotion owning all our players though

Still have a feeling Owen Beck ends up here. Based on absolutely nothing.

Can't see many places where we need a loan - maybe to cover RB? Even then I imagine King will still want to do it on a view to a buy deal.

Don't think so, we would only get a young kid with no Experience of playing in the Championship, anyway Doug King only invest in Players we own, ie know profit to be made.

Yeah , for me that is the one area that we might struggle to recruit

Our squad is now stronger than it's been for years, if we brought a loan player in we couldn't guarantee any game time, so I'd be surprised if any club would entertain the idea.

I think with 1 or 2 permanent additions this transfer window, we're pretty much sorted until January.

I get all that I honestly do
I just feel that recruiting another RB is going to be difficult . MvE is arguably our best prospect and will be one of the very best in the division this season. Persuading an established player to come in might be hard ?
Maybe I'm overthinking it

Most players recognise now it's a squad game. Plus Last year we burned Milan out so having someone else will be good

I think wages and FFP are issues that maybe preventing us from going balls out on recruitment.
Gyokeres and Hamer moving on would be a bonus, but otherwise there's players like Eccles, Burroughs and Lats that will have to cover MVE at RB when required.

I'm sure MR would like more players in an ideal world., but we're already good enough for the playoffs IMHO.

I don’t see why a young player from a lower side in a European league would be adverse to joining us tbh. Serious chance of being a prem player next season and the jump from say a Belgian or French second division to championship is a good move for most players I would have thought. Not saying Camara’s the best possible candidate but someone like that would be ideal for both us and the player imo.

It would not be ideal for Camera. He could get a first choice starting spot at a good number of other Championship sides

Could be a good option in January, depending on where we are in the league.

Andy Turner - SBAndy…. Probably too obvious, but I was just wondering whether AT has a username and posts on here, he obviously reads the threads

also most of his articles are based on ‘absolutely nothing’ and normally rehashed from a rehash of a rehashed story

True but most likely it’ll be clubs that have no chance of getting promoted, he’ll likely be in the championship for a long time if we signs for Preston or Milwall etc, different story if it’s Middlesbrough or Norwich or Burnley of course but I assume it’s the Preston’s/Milwall’s etc that want him more than Burnley/Norwich etc. I think we’d be the perfect place for him tbh.

Doug clearly doesn't want any loans. If you put your money where your mouth is and support the manager in bringing in permanent signings then its perfectly fine, which he is doing.

I really don't see how a loanee helps us now. A kid/older fringe player would have to be very talented to improve what we've got.

I think an experienced midfielder will come in on loan

I don’t think we will see a loan but I’d happily take a loan at LB tbh, I look at our team sheet and still feel both LB and RB slots don’t have the same quality or depth as other positions. Another Maatsen-type would be very welcome

In my view, we should only look for a loan if we’re in a position where we’ve missed out on top targets or the loanee is clearly out of our price range for a permanent.

Prem teams aren’t going to as keen to loan us players if they’re coming in to be role players. The positions we need: RB, CB, LB and CM only an LB would be likely to come in at loan (given that we’ve supposedly looked at Doyle, McCallum and Burrows). The other positions, CM and CB there’s a need for an experienced head so an unlikely candidate for a loanee unless it’s someone like Connor Coady (for arguments sake).

I don’t think we necessarily need loans this window if we’re planning to get another 1-2 signings. In January, we’ll take stock and replenish the team with any gaps that have emerged from injuries and so on.

Thought it may be the name. I’d like to think if Mr Turner was on here he’d be a bit more covert! (Or am I hiding in plain sight????)

Also, if I was a journalist I’d probably not openly admit I’m basing something on “absolutely nothing”

But yeah, just know we were looking at Beck last window, arguably could still do with a LB and he’s available. Notice that Celtic and QPR have asked about a loan but Liverpool would prefer a sale, so maybe it could be a permanent signing after all? Or maybe I’m talking out my arse.

We have top quality at right back. MvE is our most talented player.

Oh definitely, completely agree, I reckon that out of our current squad he’s the one we’ll make the most profit from. I was just saying that we don’t have depth at RB. I should have worded my last comment better but I meant we lack quality at LB and depth at RB, I can’t have the argument that Lati can play there, he’s too slow and doesn’t attack or run past players like Van Ewijk can.

A secondary RB and a CM and I think we have every position covered in case we get any injuries.

……so you ARE AT!!!

wouldn’t mind Beck, but would it be absolutely necessary? as long as it is not at the expense of a CM or maybe a RB (he’s a LB isn’t he?)

When was the last time we had a season without a single loanee? Do many championship clubs do it?

I think most clubs at this level have loaners probably says more about the glut of footballers clubs like Chelsea have built up. Over recent years we have either agreed (Sheaf) or managed to turn loans (Ohare, Binks) into permanent signings. If we are to pursue a loan, I think it needs to be a player on that basis and who we think would improve the starting XI. Which for me does limit the options to top class midfielder, CB or LB. Overall squad depth improvements at RB would need to be through a signing, as no loanee (or their parent club) is going to want to sit on the bench.
