Obviously, budget won't be great. But I'm more interested in trying to work out who the manager is!

Pardew? That's the only one I can think of?

Agreed we clearly need more than one loan signing. If he has been handed funds to sign one player, then i'm guessing his fund is £90-100k maximum!

If Newcastle - Could be Xisco, 25 year old six foot striker they got from Deportivo? Not played much. Or Gosling maybe?

I wonder what position?

A striker or goalscoring midfielder, surely?

Either of those would be great. I don't think it would be Gosling though as, from what Thorn's said, he would be too young?

Pardew's the only one I can think of that's played with Thorn. You think of any one else?

Sylvain Marveaux, 25 year old attacking midfielder? Only made appearances off the bench. Could be in with a shout.

they are so kind, another scrap thrown to us to try to appease us. 1 loan? are they taking the piss? so its gone from several to one? Thats not going to save our season, if you want the fans to start to believe you want the best for the club and team then we need at least 4!

dont think i have ever seen such a poor story on the offal.

We need more than one player !

If we signed Rooney at the moment we would still struggle, we need at least 2 midfielders one of whom can actually provide crosses to juke & Cody

This has only been done due to protests, just like last time.

I am pretty sure its gone too far this time for anyone to swallow this.

WHAT?! Because we're debating on what team it MIGHT be that's offered us a couple of players, which it actually SAYS in the article?! Go read the definition of gullible

Oh my God! Not.... discussing targets! Hang me now. Then draw and quarter me. And actually, nobody's discussing targets. It clearly says in the article that a prem manager that Thorn used to play with has offered a couple of players. People are trying to figure out who the manager/team/players are. Nothing about targets. Maybe READ the original post properly.

i guess im the only one who is happy with this article?

we know we are skint, did anyone really expect 4-5 loans?????????? i said 2 months ago i expect 1-2 loaness to come in,if this comes to fruition i will have been right, please be realistic people

i really hope its an attacking midfielder,i feel the defence is good enough and juke/cody will get goals if we make more than 2 bloody chances a game

gosling is a good shout if its newcastle

does david dunn still get into the Blackburn team? maybe we could get old boy kean to send us someone? did pachecho go anywhere in the end?

Perhaps its more bullshit? No stone left unturned? What happened to those loan signings? Blatant lies! I don't believe anything that comes out of the club anymore. One signing,oh thank you sisu! We need 4 or 5 players ffs.

KG, yeah, you're probably right about Gosling, too young. But Gaskell's mention of Sylvain Marveaux could be a good bet. It has to be Pardew.

This really is a bizarre statement from CCFC considering Dulieu's interview of 10th October: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/coventry-city-fc/coventry-city-fc-news/2011/10/10/coventry-city-leaving-no-stone-unturned-in-loan-search-says-ken-dulieu-92746-29568347/CT/Dulieu 10/10/2011.

Compare these two statements:

a) Dulieu on 10th October: "It is our intention to bring in a player or players on loan and funds are available to do so."

b) Thorne today: "There is now some money there to get a loan now but it is expensive still."

So on the 10th October there were funds available for one or more loans "and the club and Andy are leaving no stone unturned." Yet today we are expected to be grateful that funds for one loan signing have now become available.

This for me is nothing more than typical SISU/Dulieu spin (or 'mis-communication'), a PR disaster, and an insult to Sky Blues fans' intelligence.

Personally wouldn't expect it to be Marveaux as he's made the Newcastle squad for 9 of their 10 Premiership games. It's a possibility but a massive outside chance.

IF (and I do mean if) we're to get someone from Newcastle expect it to be one of:
Peter Lovenkrands (unhappy at Newcastle. Pardew said he won't be going on loan but we'll see)
James Perch (1 PL sub appearance, made 4 PL matchday squads)
Alan Smith (1 PL sub appearance, made 2 PL matchday squads)
Mehdi Abeid (1 Carling Cup start)
Haric Vuckic (fitness depending)
Sammy Ameobi
Danny Guthrie (unlikely)
Marveux (very unklikely)

I would be "content" if I thought for a second it was true. Its just spin. Just before the last threat of a protest they promised loans, and they are doing it again. One loan will not keep us up.

Dennis Wise almost single handedly got us from in or near the relegation zone to 8th place.

The past few games have been a con. SISU have backed against Cov recent weeks and recouped enough dough for a loanee.

I wonder if they took the Even money price back in September on us. Thay'll sort them out come May

Anyone know (i dont without looking, which i plan to do but ill ppsf the question too) if Steve Kean played for Wimbledon and in their famous team? Im sure it got a mention on MOTD on Saturday! If he didnt, then id say its got to be Pardew.

Some inreresting names in Gouldburg's post. Guthrie would be a good signing imo. I only know of Vuckic from football manager and I signed him on loan. Was a great player coming off the bench, gettin a fair few goals but I realise reality is different to the game.

Lovenkrands would be a good signing, but whoever we get, we do need to remember they are not goin to stop the rot on their own. Yes, as mentioned above, Dennis Wise more or less did this, however he's not on the same level as any player we'll get on loan with these morons in charge.

Huh? I think the article means he's been told a budget. If he's just been told that, how would he have known it for 4 months?

SW88 - Don't think Kean played for Wimbledon, although I'm not 100% certain

This is a really worrying statement for me in terms of the "no stone unturned comments" and demonstrates we were not looking for loans before now and suggest Thorn had no athority to get anybody in......I guess if you are going to lie then at least be consistent.

Great if we get a loan in and thanks for the carrot (again) but I also feel we need a couple unless we are thinking of getting messi onboard.

I cant see 1 player making a difference, like Wise did, this time round is the point i was trying to make.

On the radio interview, Thorn thinks it could take a few more weeks before a player arrives! Wonder what odds we'll get on it falling through?
