As we're coming back to the transfer window, I thought it would be worth looking at our our players are doing out on loan:

Ryan Howley, 21, contract expires June 2025.

Currently at Aye United in the Scottish Championship. Made just 9 appearance in the league, only 3 have been starts. Total of 319 mins. Also played 3 challenge cup games (2 starts). So total of 12 games, 411 mins

Has had a couple of niggles but disappointing total game time 12 games out of a possible 26, 411 out of a possible 2,340 mins.

Second consecutive failed loan spell, particularly having dropped down a league must spell the end of his time at the club.

Jack Burroughs, 23, contract expires

Having a similarly poor loan spell albeit also had a few niggles but has dropped out the side. Made just 10 appearances out of a possible 19 in the SPL, and only 3 of those were starts. Did start two Europa Conference League qualifying games, but puts his total of 5 starts and 7 sub appearances basically the same as Ryan Howley albeit it in a higher league.

Total games 12 of a possible 26 games, 530 our of a possible 2,340 minutes.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, and him turning 24 he will surely be released in the summer.

I think Jack will probably get someone from league two or league one interested in the summer but I imagine Howley will slip into non league.

Justin Obikwu, 20, contract expires July 2025.

Grimsby signed him knowing he was injured and would take a 4-6 weeks to recover and get fit. So despite a brief 8 minute cameo against Doncaster, didn't really comeback into the team until 22nd October. Since then he has made 9 league appearances out of a possible 11, starting 5 of those 9 and scoring 4 goals at a rate of a goal every 82 mins. He's also made a few cup appearances.

Total of 535 mins, 12 appearances, 4 goals and 1 assist. However seems to be injured again.

He turns 21 in Feb, and with us already having 4 senior strikers plus Tavares for just 1 lone striking berth i'd be surprised if we extend his contract.

Obiwku signed a new deal before going on loan. But yeah he's doing well, shame he's injured again so missed the last two. Injuries this time of year aren't great, two week injury results in about 9 games missed!

Obkikwu is a talent for me. Keep him out on loan for this season and get him back for next.

Yeah I would too, you just think with Simms, Wright, Bassette and BTA, will Lampard want keep him or let him go out to play football.

Just found it on twitter, it was Jan this year before going to Grimsby on loan last season. The article just gives the 404 error so can't find how long it was extended for.

His original contract was until 2024 so his new one might have been a year extension?

That makes disappointing reading as I thought Burroughs and Howley didn't look out of place in their first team appearances

Give Obilwu a couple of years and send him back out on loan I reckon. Better in L2 even than our U21s.

Does anyone know if we can recall these two?

I say get them back so Frank Lampard can have a good look at them, if they offer anything for the first team.

Obikwu scored again, that's 3 in his last 3 games. And has 7 in 14 in the league.

Tavares scored for Burton

Kai Andrews an unused sub for the second game running, which is starting to look like another Scottish loan disaster.

It's worth pointing out that Obikwu has scored 7 goals in 739 minutes , appears he may be on of our younger players with something about him .

10 goals in 2 loan spells over 1576 minutes .

So a goal every 157 minutes in league 2 at 19/20 years of age

Grimsby fans weren't keen on his re loan by the looks of it but now they're doing the classic "he's shit cov, you should release him"

Tav pulled this hamstring scoring so that's prob minimum 3 weeks out.

Dausch won (and missed) a penalty midweek for St Albans but scored the winner away yesterday

Riccardo Di trolio started again for Welling

Completely forgot Andrews is on loan at Motherwell. I really wish we'd bin off SPL loans

Don’t know why we bother sending players to Scotland… not one of them has been a good loan for us.
All it does is gets them off the wage bill, doesn’t advance their careers.
I’d rather we send them to League 2 and they play and see if they might turn out to be worth keeping on.
We even sent players like Callum Wilson & Nathan Cameron to teams like Nuneaton, Tamworth, Kettering etc and it helped build their career… this Scottish stuff is a waste of time

Great goals by all 3.

Dausch and Obikwu have great futures at Cov. Could be integrated next season under Frank

If you look how he cut in from the left and finished you could be forgiven to think that’s Haji Wright

Obikwu has the most potential for me out them 3 .

Thats a great goal return at that age in those pretty tough divisions

It hasn't helped Andrew's that the manager that took him there resigned because of fan abuse. He hasn’t had a look in under the new manager

Great physique too, you can't teach being big and awkward. Interesting one to watch for sure.

Hopefully stays injury free for the last 15 games and see how many more he can get.
