- Coady is on circa 75k a week.

- Giles is better / bigger version of JDS - ok going forward - can’t defend.

the only positive yesterday was FL saw everything that is wrong with us, that 2nd half was the pits - given context of suppose squad quality, worst seen in long time.

big job ahead

If we got Giles and played like we did Saturday you’d have to have Milan being the one who stays back like Dasilva did. Probably better tbh, then Saka can pull wide one side and EMC and Rudoni can cut in.

So if we are going to attack like the above, I don’t think Giles would be a great shout since he would took in.

If we look to sign an experienced centre back to replace Kitching in the system, then we could use Binks/Bidwell to cover the left back position while pushing Dasilva up to cover Mason-Clark.

Wright could then look to play Striker at the top of the system.

As such think the other key role would be another CAM to be able to rotate Tats and Rudoni and allow us a bit more creativity. I know it’s probably bollocks but with the Phillip Billing rumours earlier, seems he could play this role and he’s only had three games in the prem this year.

Finally we desperately need a back up right wingback or two if PSV come back in, would look to see if we could get Calvin Ramsey on loan. Not having the best year but was good at Bolton and offers a good attacking threat

There have been a few murmurings about a young right back at Chelsea named Josh Acheampong who is refusing to sign a new contract and could be possibly loaned to us. Good or bad? I have no intel on him but is an 8 year old going to save our season?

Only seen him mentioned on websites on loans we could pick up.

He’s definitely a back up for us and a opportunity for Chelsea to show him in the shop window, a lot of excitement around him but likely someone to come on with 15 minutes to spare to allow Milan a break.

Would using MvE defensively be so bad? Gives you the pace get out of jail card and he’s not exactly ripping up trees going forwards. Maybe a Giles with better delivery would be better?

Dovin
MvE Thomas Binks
Eccles Sheaf
Saka Rudoni EMC Giles
Simms/Wright

Gets you Saka on the wing, Rudo and EMC cutting onto their favoured foot and arriving in the box, and you could drop Sheaf back to a 4141 if Giles is caught up the pitch. TBH I’d like to see Sheaf given a more defensive holding role anyway.

It seems Bournemouth paid £18m for him. Are they likely to loan a big investment like that out and can we afford his PL wages?

They'd likely pay a percentage. I'm not sure we'd be an overly attractive proposition for a PL player to come to at the moment though.

Definitely an option and a way for us to target different wings at different points.

I did pitch Giles so who knows, just think the first option just means you don’t have to spread our budget as thin meaning we can probably get a bit better for us

Sakamoto could do with the overlap though as he’d spend most of the game trying to cut inside. I actually like the idea of Rudoni starting from LCM and providing an overlap on the left, but it is very contingent on a high press when we lose possession.

you have left out Bertie - i think he's a starter for me over Simms - once we get Wright back

I can't see any way King sanctions big money loan moves in January. Given that we aren't going to make the playoffs or get relegated, it's just wasted money & against everything he's stood for previously unless they are loan to buy of course.

He showed on Saturday his limitations. He is not really ready to start in the Championship.

Unless they are structured loans with options to buy. But like you say, there probably wont be much money fronted up during the loan.

The costs of loans are wide ranging. Not all of them require a large % of their wages paid.

Shouldn't this be the moan market?

Moaning is my wife's favourite subject. She has years of experience. But I consider her to be an amateur to some people on here. Too old, too young, no championship experience or whatever else fits the moment.

Van Ginkel would be an interesting one. Was highly rated when younger, proper box to box midfielder. He's had some horrendous luck with injuries but played a good amount of football last season. 7 goals & 2 assists in 30 league games for a Vitesse side who were imploding.

It might be a knee jerk reaction, but “ that man , “ that’s missing from the center of our midfield, a leader is needed & urgently.
So surely Doug , a change of policy is required , to obtain a real gem or 2 …. Even if it is just a loan ?

Will you get a leader in a loan deal? They are usually kids!

We loaned Sheaf with obligation to buy. Good business. We loaned Vic then bought him. Awesome business. We loaned Binks then bought. Jury is out. Great footballer needs to up his defensive capabilities. We loaned Walsh, brilliant for us but injuries have destroyed his career trajectory.
Could we have got Doyle again? Not if the loans don't make a profit rumours are correct. McNally priced out. Maatsen and Norton-Cuffey could never afford. Panzo started well then lost it a bit. Ayari, classy player but too lightweight for the Championship.
Austin needs to up his game with loans. His observations at the forum apply to absolutely every club.

Not sure about Van Ginkel, was disappointed when the Fins released him, but not pulling up any trees at Minesota.

BNC from Genoa. Not played much although looks like he’s had an injury. Desperately need cover for right back and tbh if we had another right back, Milan should be dropped for the next game.

Worked with Joe Edwards at Millwall.

Absolute no from me, 18 and never been on loan before, our best loans since being promoted have already been out and got games before coming to us.

Didn’t say it was tbh, centre back is where it is most concerning but would like something a little more permanent there.

Right back is still an issue, unless we can get the Milan from last year back. Couldn’t believe how bad he was on Sat but he’s not been at it all season.

Decent player, and i wouldnt say no if hes available, but he's right footed, and it's the left sided CH that's our problem.
Kitchen isn't getting a look in for some reason, and Binks is a woeful defender who needs off loading imo. It says it all when Binks gets dropped and we keep our first clean sheet for weeks.

Sorry he's like an old soak after the last time we used him, it'll take quite a while to dry him out I think!
