Liverpool have confirmed that they have finally reached an agreement with Blackpool regarding the transfer of Charlie Adam.

The Scotland international will now travel to Merseyside to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms, meaning the deal will more than likely be completed before the weekend.

Discussions between the two clubs have been ongoing for six months following failed bids in the winter, but progress was made on Wednesday morning.

The previous sticking point had been Liverpool's apparent refusal to meet an asking price set by Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston and manager Ian Holloway.

With funds in short supply, Blackpool have been understandably eager for as much profit as possible on their 25-year-old captain and skysports.com has reported that the price tag is £9million.

A statement on the Anfield club's official website read:
"Liverpool football club today announced they have reached agreement with Blackpool for the transfer of Charlie Adam.

"The player will now travel to Merseyside for a medical and to discuss personal terms."

Liverpool failed in their attempts to sign Adam in the January transfer window, when Tottenham also showed an interest, but are now almost certain to have got their man.

It is unlikely that personal terms will prove a stumbling block, with Adam widely reported to have set his heart on a move to Liverpool in the winter, to mean Blackpool are set to lose their influential playmaker.

So they now have him and Henderson? I wonder who will get to play along side Stevie G when he returns!

Lucas was player of the season wasn't he?

Then they have Aquilani and Poulsen plus others.

2-7-1 FTW.
