You read it every day where people are picked on because there weight. Poor kids self harm, people have topped themselves etc.

weight is now being classed as a disability, maybe mind sets will change?

Sorry, anyone who is fat is so by their own gluttony. I am fat by the way.

To compare that to discrimination through race or disability is absurd.

If people are overweight they can do something about it. People being called a spaz for being confined to a wheelchair cannot.

Just like racial slurs its a form of bullying, and anyone that's seen bullying first hand knows the damage that can be done to someone's self confidence.

Unfortunately not all forms of bullying are treated equally.

Also something I can never understand is its rightly unacceptable to make offensive remarks about someone's race at a football match, yet it seems perfectly acceptable to make offensive remarks about someone's weight or height. When is that going to change?.

It must be tough being a short fat bastard.

Exactly.

It seems that overweight people need to excuse themselves by making out they can do nothing about it and that it's some kind of disability.

How often do they exercise? what's their diet like? anyone who is obese or fat can change their life for the better, sadly most of them can't be bothered and look for excuses elsewhere.

Is calling someone Asian being racist ? Asia stretches from South Turkey to Japan and beyond covering large parts of Russia, China, Mongolia, Arabia, the Indian sub-continent, the Malaysian area, Vietnam, Cambodia and Japan, the people all look different, all from Asia so all"Asian" so why has it become the "right" word to call Indians, Pakstanis, Afghans, Sir Lankans Asian ? and not the many Russian, Arabs, Chinese, Japanese and others who are also Asian ?

But who are you to say that someone should lose weight?

What if they don't want to? Does that make them fair game for abuse?

The message here seems to be "unless you fit into our idea of the perfect human specimen, then prepare for ridicule and abuse".

So your obviously against abuse towards people who have a different physical feature in terms of skin colour, but your not against abuse towards people who have a different physical feature in terms of weight?

I'm overweight but I'm more embarrassed when someone asks which football team I support.

There is no excuse for anything. No excuse for dropping litter. No excuse for putting your used chewing gum under the table. No excuse for exceeding the speed-limit and no excuse for under-age drinking or texting while driving. All should carry the punishment of a lifetime ban from whatever you were doing.

Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Thai people now get offended if you refer to them as "Oriental". I'm not sure why because they even call their own restaurants things like "The Oriental Palace". I suppose they are allowed to use the term, but no-one else is. That seems to be a common feature. The oppressed class can indulge in a behaviour but the oppressing class cannot.

None of those are offensive terms. Who's telling you they are, and was this yesterday morning?

If they don't want to lose weight then fair enough then they should accept ye health consequences. I'd like to see taxes imposed on fattening food so that any burden imposed on the nhs is removed.
