Definitely not, doesn’t strike me as a natural athlete and his game time suggests this to also be the case.

Also, isn’t his best position as a centre mid, so not a direct replacement for O’Hare?

Enjoyed watching him for us though. Technically very gifted player.

was the best player on the pitch (and scored) against us for Swansea this year.

IF he has his injuries behind him- i would risk it. Certainly has the quality

Not as good as cheap players that can stay fit though!

I wouldn’t sign him. But my god what a footballer he is. Such a shame for him that his injury record is as bad as it is.

Remember a pass he played at Ipswich away that was like a flick of his right foot out to someone on the left wing. It was premier league level.

Fine player but the fact that Swansea have seen fit to release him would suggest they're not convinced he has his injuries behind him.

I would bring him in preseason and see what his level of fitness is. If he cant get through then you know the answer, if he gets through, a year deal with an option could be all he gets and worth a risk in my opinion.

At 26 he still has a chance of doing something but this year is a big year for him as a pro i would of thought.

Obviously doesn’t make sense to sign him, but the romantic in me would nevertheless be delighted if we did.

That's actually not a bad idea.
I'd imagine a L1 team would offer him something longer term but if not it might be worth looking at.

He would be better off going back down to league one level, if he can put his injury woes behind him then he might get a move to a Championship club in a couple of years.

He was unreal that year. Not many people went to Brum to watch back then but if you did, you would’ve seen that he was a cut above.

Too injury prone now though. We don’t have the wages to waste unfortunately.

Absolutely no chance. We have a small budget by the leagues standard, we need to make every penny count, and that means not signing players with horrendous injury records.

The lads played just 38 league games in 4 seasons since he was on loan with us. That's an average of 9.5 league games a season.

Nice to see this yearly thread pop up nice and early

( If he wasn’t so injury prone I’d have him back in a heartbeat )

We know about his injuries, but on losing Cal , surely he was / is the nearest player to replace Cal , without costing anything but wages ? ( play & pay contract )
He is fiesty & offers something different & a great footballer on his day ……

35 appearances in the 4 years since leaving us.

You can see why he's available.

Not for me anymore. And to even contemplate would have to be a largely appearance bonus based contract, which I doubt would appeal to Walsh.

He has very smart hair, would that count towards his appearance bonus?
