Well yeah that’s when it’s official, I get why some fans don’t like them but the CT would still have a good idea of what’s going on through links with other clubs.

These people will happily post rumours off @EFLRumourz or whatever but think people with long standing connections within the club and a network of similar people at every other club aren’t to be trusted.

The Telegraph always get it right tbf The reason we don’t believe them is because they produce sensationalist and misleading headlines with articles that have no substance. I still remember that retained list they published few years back. Can’t imagine it was nice for players to read they’d been released when they hadn’t...

Not really. Even the national journalists only really have half an idea of what's going on and that's through years of building up their network and forming long-standing relationships with contacts at both clubs and with agents/agencies.

The majority of local journalists such as those on the Coventry Telegraph simply don't have that kind of reach or network so even if they took the initiative to do a bit of digging 9 times out of 10 they'd likely get nowhere. That's just not how the game works.

It's a pretty shoddy outlet, but it's still the only title with any credibility at all which covers us on a regular basis. Without it, we have pretty much nothing. I honestly don't understand why people harbour so much resentment towards it, but most of the people who complain about the media are also its biggest and most passionate consumers, so I guess it's not really a huge deal.
