Big Mo is 51 today... Have the Facebook forum identified him as the Osti replacement yet?

What am I missing here? Liam Walsh title but first post about Biamou? Not being critical, I just really don’t know what the link is!

Ah, he has been released from Bristol City so now it seems that everybody who was obsessing over Biamou is now onto Liam Walsh.

I’d love to see Walsh back but it would have to depend on his fitness and what the medical flags.

A fit and healthy Walsh, over his injury problems - yes 100%. None of us know the situation though.

This would lead to loads of goals.

Walsh is an intelligent player; he'd make the through pass and then run to the far post to tap in the rebound.

Been following the Walsh situation from a Bristol City perspective (I live nearby). General feeling is that they'd like him to stay, but it's no big deal if he leaves.
I've been wanting him to join us for a year now and am reasonably bored of the non-stop talk over this period! I am just a little concerned about how many central midfielders we will have on our books next year.
Shipley, Allen, Hamer, Kelly, Eccles, O'Hare (I appreciate he is more attacking). I'd love to have Matty James here next year, we'll probably have Sheaf and then we talk about wanting Walsh as well. That just highlights to me that we need to clear some out (Shipley and Allen?) as that's way too many.

Well, yes, I'm sure some players in contract will be moved on - even if Walsh doesn't join.

sign Walsh, bring back this years loans
get in a GK

and i think we will have a team that can get to mid - table

Would need to clear a couple of the midfielders and Marosi

On the face of it, if we were to invest that money into a striker/centre back it might be a risk I'd consider. I say risk, because it is a risk. Hamer is proven Championship quality, Walsh isn't at all. I absolutely loved him last year but it's not a cert he will step up. What should also probably be considered is you are then left with Walsh, James (?), Kelly, Sheaf (?), Eccles. The first three are more than a little injury-prone and Sheaf has had his own physical struggles this year. It would be a big risk.

I don't think Hamer is proven just yet. It takes a fair bit more to become a "Proven" Championship Midfielder.

Oh yeah I get that, more experienced in the Championship.

He's just not what I would class as a proven championship midfielder just yet. Not saying he won't be, the glimpses he has shown show he more than has the potential.

Yeah think it's fair to say he's proven he can play at this level, just needs to be a bit more consistent which I'm confident he can be

I agree with that I like Hamer and if I thought he would be here for three or four seasons so we could build around him as he develops and I think he will I’d go with that but he’s one year into a three year contract and I believe he sees us as a stepping stone selling him to finance signing better players throughout the team and to a club like Rangers who doesn’t affect us I’d go with that if the price is right.

That is a lot of midfielders admittedly but it’s an eighteen man match day squad nowadays six outfield one of our problems this season when we had our injury problem was our bench was weak Robins got plenty of stick for leaving substitutions late but that got better towards the end of the season once our injured were back add Walsh James and Walsh I’m sure a couple will leave.

I'd love Walsh to sign but I'm also a Hamersexual so I'd be disappointed if he left after just a season. I'd be nervous around the fitness of Kelly, James and Walsh going into a season with them (+Sheaf?) as our deep midfield options.
