Just saying

Maybe Lampard hasn't seen much of him either?

I’ve been banging the drum for Kitching, but Plymouth did not offer anything in attack today from the first minute to the last. Hull were a bad outfit but this Plymouth were so bad, I felt sorry for the Green Army who made the journey to be served utter dross from their POV.

Personally, I was happy to banter my flat mate who’s from Plymouth and supports them as a ‘2nd Team’ - the idea of a secondary team is revolting to me in any case.

In January?

I'd be absolutely shocked if we got even half what we paid. Surely not?

None of us know how much we’ve actually paid so far.

Think everyone agrees it's >£4m?

I actually think Kitching deserves more minutes, but if someone is going to give us £4m back I'd snap their hand off.

I doubt it was 4 mil up front. Very few transfers are the full amount without add ons.

Pretty much the same with most transfers. A lot of guess work involved.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see a swap deal of sorts with Bindon.

The Sky Blues have secured the 23-year-old centre-back for an 'undisclosed' fee - understood to be in excess of £4m with add-ons
City initially had a £2.5m bid, rising to £3m, rejected by the Oakwell club before going back in with a revised £4m bid. That, too, was dismissed on Thursday before City went back again for a third time.

That's from the Cov Tel article on the deal. To me that suggests the up front figure would've been in the £3.5-4m region.

Swap deals involving two players rarely happen because four parties have to agree to it.

Looked okay when he came on as well I thought. Was aggressive and won a few decent headers.

At one point he did do the classic Kitching move of being lured too far into midfield to challenge a ball, leaving a massive gap behind him and so then had to do a panicked sprint back, but I'd like to see him get a start in the next couple of games

Was talking to the other defenders as well seemed to be marshalling them

Guy at my work supports Liverpool and Portsmouth!! Texted me about the result last week giving it some…he didn’t even watch the game..kept an ‘eye’ on it he said! People who support 2 English clubs are weird!

It was good to see Kitching getting a runout but I wouldn't start him based on that cameo. The starting defenders got us a clean sheet, Kitching had nothing to do.

I doubt it would of been over 3 mil myself with the rest in add one but I guess we will never know. Also that's the Telegraph we're talking about and we know how dubious they are.

Reading in their current state probably couldn't afford to pay Liam Kitching for a week

Perhaps Fadz had some big input in the Kitching signing, they are good friend's so obviously he will have been in Robins ear.
Fadz would have watched his progress over a number of years.

That is my conclusion to the signing, it's unlikely that we were watching him/scouted him by chance.

We signed 3 players who had played for Barnsley that season and allegedly had watched Styles too.

The plan if certain people are to be believed was to sign the whole Barnsley back 3, ie add Mads Andersen too who went to Luton instead.

MA was first choice I believe. He’s hardly kicked ball since joining Luton.

People are reading 2m rejected, 3m rejected etc as up front fees when they could of course be total fees after add-ons and the potential final figure.

Nobody really knows except the clubs involved. It sounds like those figures were leaked by Barnsley, who had a vested interest in showing their fans they weren't letting players go on the cheap. So personally I would take those figures as gospel.

It says there, initial bid £2.5m guaranteed, rising to 3m with add ons. That was rejected. Then 4m inc add ons, rejected, then >4m accepted.

If the initial one was £2.5m rising to 3 I think it’s sensible to infer the final bid would have been at least 3.5m up front.

It's still all guestimates though; unless of course leaks are always correct and journalists always print the facts right?
