When Kitching broke into the team last season, he was integral in our push up the table. He was the kind of centre back we'd been calling out for. Nasty and physical. Like most of the team, his form plummetted after the Wolves cup game. He's had a few starts this season, and has been (IMO) no worse than any of the others back there. He was at CB when we kept clean sheets against Bristol in the cup, and Blackburn at home. His last game was at Sunderland. He did well in that game.
Now, it seems people have decided he's finished here, as Lampard hasn't picked him yet.
Hope he gets a start this week.

Great idea the defenders kept a clean sheet on Saturday so lets change it again

Doubt he’ll play for us with any regularity. Clearly an attitude issue for it to be across three managers. Cut out losses in Jan and take whatever anyone will give us.

I agree to be fair, i think he will suit the way Lampard wants us to bring the ball out the most.

Was really surprised he started Lati there. And as someone who’s really not a fan of Lati he had a good game. Not a long term solution though.

It’s hard to see a way in for Kitching.

He must have the worst attitude of all time if he’s alienated Lampard in a matter of weeks?

I want it to work out because..
A. When he was playing well, him and Thomas were a good pairing imo.
B. I don't want to write off a £4 million signing.

Something does feel off with it all but maybe he'll get a new lease of life under Lampard.

Still early days under Lampard. I wouldn’t rule him out just yet. I don’t know but is it more attitude than ability. He looks decent to me when he plays. I certainly don’t get all the hate towards him.

We're also not going to cut our losses on someone who cost £4 million just yet. We are not that club. King will be wanting Lampard to have a proper look at these players he's invested significant funds into.

Thing is we need a CB so if you’re offloading one to make room it’s the third choice LCB really.

Well, logically you would think, if there are off-field issues (been alluded to a few times on here), then obviously that info would filter through to Lampard.

Obviously there are still people at the club aware of what has been going on with Kitching.

King would obviously know the situation too.

So, I don't think anyone would have alienated Lampard. FL has just come in and will have been told what's going on with the player.

If it’s that bad I wouldn’t expect him to be included in the squad.

Also weren't we told Collins had an attitude problem, yet he's in the starting 11. It does seem like there's a possibility that its just more bollocks.

Ive been told for months the only reason Kitching isn’t playing is Robins irrationally loves Binks and Lats and him and Thomas are clearly head and shoulder above the rest. Yet he keeps not getting picked. What’s up with that?

Lampard will have spoke to the likes of Carr. If he's given him really bad feedback about the player that will influence his thinking.

Maybe he does have a probem, i don't know, but a lot of bullshit becomes fact on here. Rather watch and see how it plays out.

He was caretaker for 3 games, it was never that likely he'd bring somebody in from the cold

I'm not saying Kitching has got an attitude problem, I've no idea.
Just its not that wild a suggestion given our defensive frailties and he still rarely gets picked.

Apparent attitude issues aside, Kitching really isn't all that suited to the Championship.

Athletically he's woeful. He's slow on the turn and has very little pace, which would be fine if he had a high footballing IQ and could anticipate danger effectively but he doesn't.

He's erratic and regularly gets drawn into situations creating problems for himself and others. Far too impulsive at times and his concentration levels are suspect at best.

I recall Kitching not getting game's when he first arrived.
Took a while before he got his chance.

I doubt King will be willing to take a massive hit just to move him out unless there is a real problem behind the scenes. Could a short term loan out in January be worthwhile exploring? Get him playing regularly, potentially get his confidence up and then he comes back in the summer with a fresh slate and ready for a good pre-season.

It doesn't really work like that. For the most part, once first-team players get sent out on loan the writing is pretty much on the wall at that point re. their future at the club.

As a club, we cannot afford to completely freeze him out. At some point we will need to try and recoup some of our outlay on him and we won’t do that putting him in a one man bomb squad.

Four centre backs, two positions to fill on the pitch. Does that mean whoever is on the bench is 'frozen out' by the manager?

To be fair, Lampard has yet to start Dovin, Allen or Thomas Asante yet either. CBs are rarely brought on as subs unless there's an
injury or a swtich of shape. If he doesn't start at West Brom or against Hull on Sat it might be a sign all is not well.

Am pretty sure Kitchen will get his chance and probably grab it with both hands. He is a good player, physically strong. Hopefully a more compact back four system will suit him. It's healthy to have two players for every position in the squad. Unfortunately someone doesn't get a game

Lati and Thomas were great on Saturday so I would guess they will keep their places on Wednesday.
