Maybe I’ve missed it but didn’t we expect him to be back by now?

Yep. Said the same on another thread and maybe I am wrong, but I thought he was back in training.

How long has it been? In all honesty I can't see him getting straight in.

Also, what's up with McDonald
Has his missus had the baby yet or still have virus or didn't want him Cup tied as he is being sold

Don't need either in the team at the moment, Bayliss and Davies are playing superbly, would be nice to have them back to strengthen the bench though sooner rather than later.

Bayliss' outstanding form has allowed Kelly to take the time needed for his heel to recover
He'd been playing with it for weeks which affected his mobility
It will be great to have a fully fit Kelly back when he's ready especially as Doyle is bound to need a rest at some point

There's no point rushing him back and it flaring up, let it heal properly.

I don’t think Michael Doyle ever rests.

In the past I've criticised him but I think he's a credit to his profession and bringing him in as captain was a masterstroke from Robins

Can’t see Kelly or McDonald getting straight back in really. There comes a point though where the likes of Shipley and Bayliss need taking out. Shipley has hit that point now.

McDonald confirmed on twitter that he'll be back next week. Will be unfair to drop any of the central defenders after recent performances!

It depends on opposition, had Davies played against Morecambe he would have nullified the threat of their big striker.

Davies has been superb since he came in after a few years of shite defenders we have an embarrassment of riches for centre of defence...maybe just maybe Robins does have a plan,If he left today he has definitely left us in a better position playing staff wise than recent previous managers

Yes it would leave us with a better foundation-but should we go up reinforcements will be required-remember last season?

I was thinking against teams like Morecambe, Cambridge and other teams with big strikers, that we should partner Davies and McDonald because I think they'll cope with them in a more efficient manner than with Willis. I still think Willis and McDonald is the best partnership we've got. However, Davies as a 3rd choice, has been a brilliant signing. I think all three could play well for us in L1 if we got promoted.

agreed. But would like to have seen him back for Exeter. Him and Doyle holding has worked well in other games against the top 6 and would liked to have seen them back together for Saturday.

Correct against direct sides he's all the attributes needed to deal with the game plan, proved it yesterday and in the league at Lincoln.

I'd pick Davies and Mcdonald as the pair but lately Jordan Willis has upped his game a extra few percent and it's showing where Rod Mcdonald was looking a little ropey.

3 good central defenders with a rage of attributes to go with what game plan they face.

Hyam is looking a prospect and getting time to adapt and develop too, imagine if he'd had to play 20 games by now. Would he look so calm and assured if we depended on him weekly and getting flack in the event of errors.

Being managed well and stepping in and up to the mark when called upon.
