Not Hamer

Not Godden

Not Marosi

Not Dabo.

Liam Kelly is the most important man in this squad. Has been for years. He came in, we improved 10 fold. Hes gone again we look dog shit.

Last season we lost 3 games. 2 of them he wasnt in the starting 11.

Season before he was pivotal in our post Christmas great form when Doyle went Notts.

And of course the league 2 season his partnership with Doyle.

Our survival depends on getting him back fit ASAP.

Ideally the club will try and loan in a solid holding midfielder in January.

Club will have to try and get rid to recruit I guess... Couple of loans should be doable though

Well Marosi is on the mend soon so we can let Clamp go which throws up a wage, probably a decent one too.so perhaps we can use that.

Yeah I’m not sure how or why Kelly has suddenly become the most important player in the side, and it’s impossible for us to win without him. That was never the case in L1 or L2, so it’s weird that he would suddenly become crucial at a higher level.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s a step up from the naivety and lack of bite that Sheaf is currently offering. And the team is sorely lacking in experience, which Kelly has a bit of too. But hoping that we suddenly become world beaters once Kelly comes back is an invitation to change nothing for a team that is clearly in need of changes.

It's his goals we need more than anything

Strap him up and get him on the pitch.

We dont have anyone who does what he does.

Shields the back 3.
Cuts passing lanes.
Calm head.
Reads the game.
Talks the others through games.
Always intercepting at important moments

The rest are learning the game still. Which is why I think we should be looking at wise old free transfers instead of more loan signings for that position. We need a Wise or a Hutchison, not a Sawyer or Wakefield

We lost 20 games in our first season in League 1 - Kelly was injured for a lot of that season.

You cannot underestimate the impact of good leadership. Together, McFadz and Kelly organise the team effectively in both attack and defence.

We were really naive last night, conceding two very poor goals.

As before I can’t remember conceding a good one. Always penalties and self inflicted shite

Ideally we need a 6 week circuit breaker so we can get our injured players back

Weirdly I agree. Sure we'd lose match fitness and others will have players out but we deffo need a break and a 6 week er gives Marosi, walker and Kelly a chance to be fit ha

Thought this earlier today. You can't say it wouldn't help us.

Godden, Walker and Marosi would probably be fully recovered by then, it would leave us without Kelly only for around a month/6 weeks once the season resumed and it would offer those with knocks/niggles an opportunity to get some much needed R&R.

We have a better points ratio with Wilson - Is he better that Marosi?

Also in the L1 relegation year we didn’t lose a game with Maycock In the heart of midfield

I thought Kelly was great for us last season and I think he has been one of our best players when he has played this season. He always shows for a pass, he will receive the ball without panicking in tight areas and he is constantly talking and directing. I think we miss him as a player and as a captain. It is a real blow that he is injured again.

We are a better team with him in it but don’t think his absence is the difference between getting results in this league. The performances have been around the same level and we haven’t suddenly conceded loads of goals. We played Rotherham, a poor Derby at the time and Wycombe in that run

Derby we scored in injury time and Wycombe had what looked like a legitimate goal chalked off to level the game, the warning signs were there for when we faced better opposition.
