'Sisu knew what they were doing when they signed the original agreement'25 Feb 2014 12:52Ricoh Arena row and city adoption rates - Coventry Telegraph Letters for February 25

Re: ‘I’ve changed my mind on boycott’ (Telegraph, Feb 8). How on earth can some people be so blind?
Does Hugh Pearson really believe that Sisu/Otium are interested in the football club?
Let’s look at some facts: Sisu knew what they were doing when they signed the original agreement – it was to get their feet in the door. Now inside they hoped to squeeze ACL out and get the Ricoh at a low price by withholding rent that they had agreed to.
Having failed to achieve their aim they then move to Northampton, hoping this would alienate the fans against ACL who would not sell the Ricoh.

It didn’t work and instead backfired against Sisu/Otium. A substantial number of fans sensibly boycotted the move to Northampton. A very small number go to Northampton, some in loyalty to the team but some misled people in loyalty to a discredited hedge fund.
Sisu do not have any desire to own a football team. Why? Because football teams do not make money. Apart from the few successful Premiership teams (in Europe), all others spend more than they take on trying to maintain their status.

Sisu want to make money, so don’t be fooled by their posturing about building a stadium. Apart from the cost and the timescale, it would never return sufficient profit to justify its existence.
If Sisu say that the other developments around the new stadium would make money, tell them to build the other developments, forget the football stadium.
One final matter to consider – if Sisu acquired the Ricoh what would stop them selling/giving the club to another operator and charging rent – a reversal of the present situation? Think about it.

Never even seen any of those points he's mentioned raised before anywhere else.

Really pleased he has brought those matters to my attention.

Agreed! I think some on here maybe need to take John's advice and actually "Think about it"!!!

Good work, John! Just a shame it's taken so long for someone to raise these concerns!

ERR I think he was referring to fans not employees.
You can't really believe people go to sixfields because they love sisu.

And if you look up the definition of cronies it means freind and colleagues, not football supporters of Coventry City

A match against Man U at Sixfields would be a great opportunity for Northampton residents.

At £9 a match now it's a pretty good value for non Coventry fans.

What's worse, the fact that we do seem to keep getting similar stories popping up or the very same lame responses from 'certain posters' that we get when they do? If the story/letter is in the paper then at least it is keeping it on peoples minds and continues to be a small thorn in Sisu's side (before the responses start, how does anyone from Sisu view these letters/reports etc, i don't know but at least it is a nagging thing that won't go away). As I've said before on other threads, if you don't like it or are bored of it, don't read it. How hard can that be?

It doesn't say just out of loyalty to SISU and nothing to do with football, Nick. It states some go only to support the team and suggests there are some fans who attend still have faith and loyalty to the owners SISU as well as the team.

And here we go again! 30,000 pages later ACL and Sisu apologists alike sit back and admire their handywork..........
