Rather than look through a load of posts to see the mindset on this forum, I thought I would post this and then judge the reaction.

A young woman was about to finish her first year of university. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be Labour Party minded, and she was very much in favour of higher taxes to support her education and for more government programmes – in other words, the redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply-ashamed that her father was a rather staunch, blue-ribbon Conservative, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had attended, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had, for years, harboured a selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day, she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programmes. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors must be the truth, and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing at university.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 90% average, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many university friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, “How is your friend Audrey doing?” She replied, “Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies and she barely has a 50% average. She is so popular on campus - university for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.”

Her wise father asked his daughter, “Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 20% off your average and give it to your friend who only has 50%? That way, you will both have a 70% average. It would be fair and you would both be equal.”

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, “That's a crazy idea! How would that be fair? I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my xxxx off!”

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, “Welcome to the Conservative side of the fence.”

If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
If a Conservative supporter doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Labour/Green doesn't like guns, they want all guns out-lawed.
If a Conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Labour/Green is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a Conservative is gay, he quietly leads his life.
If a Labour/Green is gay, he demands legislated respect.
If a Conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Labour/Green wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a Conservative doesn't like a chat-show host, he switches channels.
Labour/Greens demand those should be banned.
If a Conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Labour/Green non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!)
If a Conservative reads this, he'll forward it, so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Labour/Green will delete it because he's "offended”.

Well this is absolute bollocks. The whole premise this is based on is utterly flawed in that it indicates that those who earn less don't work as hard. I'm fortunate enough to earn decent enough money. My mum works a damn load harder than me and earns less than half what i do.

If a conservative MP receives grants to maintain his inherited stately home he'll still vote in the commons to remove benefits from the most vulnerable in society, (IDS for example).

A lot of what you say is true. But only for some people. You will find Tories in the Labour comments and Labour in the Tory comments.

I worked hard to get to wher I am now. Still a Labour voter. Always will be.

the story says that the young woman 'was about to finish her first year at University'. In which case its fairly irrelevant whether she gives her mate the extra 20% or not, as the first year of most degrees is worth next to bugger all towards the final mark anyway. Not sure how to relate this fact to the labour/conservative comparison though? Perhaps it means that as Teresa May is unlikely to 'complete her degree' she may as well piss it all up against the wall whilst she still can.

What a complete and utter load of old tosh.

I have pretty much always been a Green/Labour ,(well socialist anyway) supporter.
I am also a vegetarian. I have never ever wanted all meat products banned and have always believed in free choice.

If I watch a chat show host I don't like I switch channels.

I don't believe in God. I don't want to see religion banned or silenced.

When I have really struggled and been 'down and out' I have never once been to the state to help me out. Once I survived a whole week on £1.67 and my food had to come out of that paltry amount too for the week.

I would never delete this post. I would just argue at its complete inaccuracy and total untruth.

Never heard such bollocks in all my life and that's saying something with being here on SBT everyday.

My only reaction is it mearly shows which box you tick on polling day. Nothing wrong with that - but would prefer a factual statement or some proper research to prove the point. I dare say there are similar tales or lists to suit the opposite stance.

Hold on, the conservative side of the fence is wrong as it does not include dismantling the NHS to sell off privately and doing the same with State Education.

Reece-Mogg has views best on religious beliefs.

He defends women’s rights in parliament and is respected by many including Jess Phillips. He doesn’t impose such views on others and has made it clear he’d never seek the change the law on such matters - it is a point of principal.

The snarling bigoted left thought police on here prove the OP has a very valid point.

You can't defend someones downright evil thought process by playing it off as 'religious'. Oh an ISIS member blew someone up, "it's okay it's down to his religious beliefs". He believes in abortion no matter what and is anti-gay marriage. If that's your morale compass... not for me.

I am one of those people. If you are open for business, you are open for business. If gays came into my pub, I would serve them. The same goes for everyone else - even you. A business is not there to discriminate, it should be neutral. As long as people are not breaking the law or damaging property. I would accept a dress code, because you can adapt your clothing style. I would not expect people to change their sexual preference to fit in with my views though. What an arrogant and bigoted attitude.
