Guess some lines from the inevitable statement:

I know some will be against this move but we had to secure the best deal for the Ricoh Arena and the people of Coventry.

We wish we could have an independent referendum on this issue but we can’t because we are a council - that’s what democracy is about!”

I appreciate the arguments from everyone. The seriousness in which we are taking this is huge - sometimes we get e-mails and letters asking what planet we are on, but we are people who LIVE in Coventry and we LOVE Coventry. We are your neighbours, we sit next to you at the football, we worry about council tax...that’s who we are. We are charged with representing you.
You elect us and you decide whether we make those decisions in your interests or not. Regardless of party, we serve the people of Coventry and we will strive to do so.

Yes, right.

'Tonight I will be eating Mutton. Tomorrow, feasting on caviar, truffles and fine wines.'

Not sure she will actually verbalise that thought though, so maybe that won't quite make the final statement.

I'll take:

  1. "We all remember 16th May 1987."
  2. "This decision has not been taken lightly."
  3. [Sub-sonic growl]

I'm the leader of the council. I can do what I like because the people of Coventry continually ensure my re-election through either not voting or due to some bizarre affiliation to a labour party which sold itself out 20 odd years ago.

Wasps have promised that they might create a few thousand jobs or something like that.

She cant win, much like Sisu, they cant do right for doing wrong, no matter which side of the fence you`re on you are going to piss someone off.

The only statement i want to see/hear/read/whatever is Sisu have made a counter offer, the rest means nothing if the ground is sold to anyone but the football club.

I liked the bit about the last visit of Wasps generating £6 million for the local economy. Absolute guff.

Think the job generation came from the initial Arena build where they created 3,500 jobs according to the ET pages.

Might create a few more than us playing at Sixfields, sorry but couldn't resist.

You out for Fight night in November, one of the fighters text me today about it and to confirm my ticket?

Official Ann Lucas statement, just in.

'I was biting a pillow at the time of the vote, so although my mind was trying to say no, my body was saying yes, yes, yes and this was all I could manage to scream out.'

Exactly. Wasps can't move lock, stock and barrel to Coventry because they need to pretend to stay in London to fulfil RFU criteria. I sense there has been some blagging when the Wasps owners met the Labour group yesterday.

A few thousand fans every other Sunday for a few months of the year is hardly going to suddenly create a massive demand for employment. If, as seems entirely possible, this ultimately drives away CCFC from Coventry then surely there will be a net loss in terms of the activity around the arena.
