The space down our left is getting ridiculous. MVE gets away with it on our right because he's rapid. If you're a right winger against Cov you won't believe your luck at present. We're so naive when defending

What? You mean we’re only broadly as good as Boro, not as good as Ipswich and oslightly better than the 14 other half decent teams? And losing by one goal to Norwich should be in the realms of probability?

Reversion to mean.

Isn’t the reality that we only have 2 players who consistently play at a level that would be good enough for the low end of the Prem?

The rest are very good - good Championship players.

We had 2 months where we played well above our level

2 months where we played at our level and nicked results

Now 2 months where we have played below our level and not got results

Don’t think people should be surprised.

I genuinely think some fans expected us to end the season with 110+ points and 140 goals

It’s a tough league and we’re one of the better teams, that’s it. Norwich are one of the form teams (won 6 in 9 I think) and we gifted them a couple of poor goals away from home, you can’t do that against any team in the league. It was a pretty equal game other than that and we deserved a draw

We’ve got some good players and good coaching set up, it just isn’t quite clicking at the moment but sure we’ll have a bit of a run again

Yes.

Although I’m not convinced we deserved the draw. Stats have a fairly even game. Not sure the quality of our possession was as good as their’s.

Thought we missed Rudoni (regardless of him being out of form recently). BTA is a 2nd striker rather than a 3rd midfielder and we lacked that link to get the ball to the wingers

Lampard is starting to irritate me now. No game management, clearly isn't addressing the issues we are all seeing in terms of defending and being done every week on counter. His post match was odd, basically saying the defeat last night was down to 2 mistakes. It wasn't about that, we were really poor all over and I can't remember the last time we played a solid full 90 minutes. I said it the other day but I don't see the next 2-0 or 3-0 win coming and have lost all confidence in us away from home.

It's not negative or getting carried away with a defeat when we have been piss poor for weeks, especially at the back. The fact we concede for fun, have stopped scoring and have become so predictable YET we are still top is laughable.

We'd just beaten one of the league's in form teams and a relegated PL team at home - oh, and he still has a 50% + win ratio with us.

Do you really think we deserved a draw? Surprised at that. I thought we were second best pretty much all night.

Out-battled and they played much the better football.

I am obviously always really biased,.but I thought Norwich played very well last night.

And we didn't play well at all

As an away team yes. All the stats suggest that. We had one cleared off the line and hit the woodwork (as did they)* I thought Milwall deserved a draw at our place last week for similar reasons

I also thought Norwich played well. They’re a team in form and people are talking like we lost to Sheff Weds

The last thing we need to do is act entitled.

We're not going to win every game. We lost last night because of a defensive mistake yet we had the better chances away against the present form side.

And still we have many that decide to ignore the reasons for our little bad run like injuries and illness that went through the squad.

The way we play was seen as excellent when we were picking up lots of wins. We're now back up to strength and the wins will come back, but we still won't win every game.

Most of the predictions on here were playoffs at best, yet here we are needing less than a point a game to get into the playoffs and many are looking for someone to blame. ⁸

I agree with you I really do however one thing I will say is we just had a reaction of back to back wins

One loss shouldn't erase everything and put us back to square 1 in panicking fans eyes all the time.

IF we beat QPR then you have to say we're in a GREAT run of form. It's fine margins.

So yes we have a right to be worried but also shouldn't lose the plot because just like things could get worse they also could get comfortable again within the span of 2 games of favourable results

We’re still top.

We need to hit 1.88 PPG in the remaining 17 games to hit 90.

Aim has to be 32 points. Could be less but 90 points does it imo.

We have 9 more home games. We’re strong home. Win them all plus get what we can on the road. There will be an away win or 2 I’m sure.

Boro need to hit 2.11ppg to overtake us with our GD.

Ipswich need to hit 2.27 ppg to overtake us on our GD.

Boro with 4 points from the next 2 will overtake us.

This PPG silliness should’ve ended ages ago.

It's more the performances especially away. Equally you could say if we lose at QPR the poor away form continues

I genuinely don't think the performances in those wins were that convincing. We still looked error prone and had to get a bit lucky to get the results. Whilst they were important, I am still seeing the same concerns.

I am not in the bedwetting camp, but I have been watching us play for a few months now and thinking that we look second best in a lot of the basics. Every team we play seems to want it more than us. That is something that is very alarming to me.

Can we still do it? Of course. Will we do it if we keep putting in half-hearted performances? No. Something needs to change. The mentality is wrong and I think some of the players are either not up for the fight, or are struggling with the pressure.

Think i might stay off here until the game at the weekend unless theres signings to discuss. I am still pretty angry about last night though. We need to be beating QPR and Oxford before the Boro game. The away form will start putting huge pressure on the home games unless we sort it out quickly.

How do you know we are going to win away in February?

Best keeper in the league by miles and we look shocking defensively it cannot contibue.

Keegan school of trying to win the league doesnt work. Lets win 4-3.

Didnt keegan have a 10 point lead at top in january?

Off the top of my head we had Preston (keeper having a great game we dominated against 10 and 11), Charlton (awful error by Brau), Southampton (winning and playing well until Dasilva got sent off)

Could’ve/should’ve won a couple of those and deserved to more than we did against Boro who played great. We were just clinical that night. Football though isn’t it

Going back to basics is the key. Give a bit more protection to the defence with an extra midfielder if necessary.

If it means a couple of 0-0s away then so be it. Our winning run last season came from keeping clean sheets.

Lampard has everything available to him to win the league. And from our position in December even after Ipswich we should have.

Its tactics and formation for me. And he wont change it till its too late.

Depends what you mean by "deserved"

You look at all the stats from last night, they're very even. Both 16 shots with 5 on target. We created 3 big chances vs their 2. We had 1.9 xG v 1.18.

Yes watching the game you could see we lacked control especially in midfield, but that game often ends in a draw or even a win for us. People forget EMC hitting the bar from yards out etc.

Someone made a thread the other week about an “us against them mentality” I can’t find it but it pretty much hit the nail on the head in terms of how we need to be. The celebrations last night from Norwich like they had just won the league tells you everything about being top of the league, teams are raising their game against us wanting to get a result.

I hope Lampard read them the riot act last night, we were very poor, the standard we set at the start of the season is the very minimum we need to be hitting, we’ve got a full squad back now so there’s no excuses.

Starting with QPR on Saturday we need to raise our game, Lampard has a part to play in terms of sorting that gaping hole in the middle of the park we’ve been letting teams exploit for long enough!

I was angry last night, slept on it and woke up remembering were still 3 points clear at the top, 8 off third.

That being said if there’s not a vast improvement on Saturday I’ll start to worry.

Hull only scraped a draw at Wednesday from memory. No game is easy in this league, least of all away at a team that had won 6 out of 9 and are finally playing at the level they should’ve all season.

No, I hadn't and I did remember all our chances. I also try to be very balanced and I am a not a reactionary to defeats and over the top thinking. Usually am quite rational..

I just thought that last night, Norwich were stronger, wanted it more and out-muscled us and played the better football to boot

I felt we lacked desire.
