Christ - that's a point. Imagine showing a player around ShitFields and showing him around the Ricoh; could make all the difference over a signing.

Another reason why the proposed 12k make believe stadium is a crap idea.

I think that we all know the problem which SP has.......How does he persuade any striker of any ability whatsoever to join him at a club playing 35 miles from Coventry in a cow shed?????

Every post he makes defends them. It just so happens this one contains a 'fact'. If indeed it is a fact.

Really does weaken our ability to sign players - playing in that dump.

Just show them the brentford stadium with CCFC branding drawings and tell them that in 7 days we will let them know where it will be

What do you see the problems being then? Like a player going elsewhere because he wanted a longer contract and got offered an 18 month one elsewhere?

It does pose a problem - Tony's right.

If we offer the same wage as another club then these things come into play. I've heard many players talk about how they can't wait to play in their new ground.

Interestingly the 3 promoted team last season signed (excluding loans)

Bournemouth 16 players 6 for a fee
Doncaster 12 players 2 for a fee
Yeovil 13 players 2 for fee

I want SISU's grip on our club removed. If the only way to get rid of them (without handing the evil pricks a stadium they didn't pay a penny towards), is to start a Phoenix club then yeah I'm behind it.

Martin O'Neil in his Leicester days claimed that playing in a shit ground affected his ability to sign players.

Regarding Filbert Street:

"The ground wasn't developed any further, apart from compulsory seating being added, till 1993 when work began on the new Carling Stand. The stand was impressive while the rest of the ground was untouched since at least the 1920s; this led manager Martin O'Neill to say he used to "lead new signings out backwards" so they only saw the Carling Stand"

Now that's an interesting story. So are you basically saying that the Ricoh as a stadium is significantly worse than, say, Ashton gate?

What percentage of players are signed for a fee in league one?

Whatever the reply is, as 78.6% of all statistics are a lie, you'll never be sure...........?

You are saying people are influenced by the ground they will be moving to and the size if crowd. So a player under contract at the Ricoh wouldn't move to an inferior stadium would they, especially in the days we were getting 22,000 plus?

It's a tiny amount less than 20%. Look at stu's analysis of those who achieved promotion.

Sorry? The argument little chap is that players will be influenced by the quality of stadium - now as many have said the Ricoh is a Premier League ground. So on that basis I assume players would never leave would they?

Do you tony think for example a player would leave the splendour of the Ricoh and ply his trade in shitsfields if he had a choice?

So no player offered a contract at the magnificant Ricoh would contemplate signing up at shitsfields? Come on RB wake up I think Ron and tony have seen the light and scuttled away.

If they paid them enough yes.

If however you had the choice of playing at the Ricoh or Sixfields for roughly the same wage, what do you think a player would do?

Ah, so if someone played in front of 30,000 people and was offered the chance of playing in front of 2,000 people but the club with 2,000 offered more what would the player do?
