I'm very glad Mark Robins has said Leon has been under par since arriving, meaning we can expect a lot more. I would like to see Elliot start against Preston, but because of their physical play I think Robins will stay with Clarke.

From the tone of his voice; I got the impression that he will be thinking of dropping him to the bench on Sat.

I think the poster is hinting that Clarke did almost nothing today......he's right. Clarke is still pretty much looking all the time for that killer ball, to be fair though he had their number 5 all over him like a rash and fouling him as well. Shame the ref was yet another twat !

What else is Robin's gonna say? "Yeah this is all we're gonna get from him, he's actually shit but we just needed someone to replace McGoldrick".

Now don't get me wrong I'm sure he is better, but let's not believe everything that comes out of people's mouths?

Agreed, it just a shame Clarke hasn't been quite on the ball to match.

That being said, the guy is a workhorse and there is nothing wrong with his ethic!

Leon Clarke is the new Leon Best, needs to be sat in a dark room and have the offside rule explained until he understands

"Clarke off side" (C) skyblue4u 2013

Clarke won next to nothing today ! What makes you think he will do ok against preston's physical approach ?

He waits for the ball rather than goes for the ball.
That doesn't mean he stands around and doesn't do anything, he just doesn't bully his marker. Like was said earlier, it's like he's waiting for that 'killer ball'. When that does come though he's on it in a flash.
His movement is good though and I'm still convinced he'll score another 10 this season minimum.

As far as I can see nobody is having a go at Leon. He is simply a different sort of striker to McG and as such it will take time for the team to adjust to his style of play. That will of course be done but in the meantime we need to continue to pick up points and hence the shuffling of players.

the trouble we have is that some people on here think he will be DMG

It takes a bit of time to bed in, results dont happen overnight and you should all rather than question him get behind him

You all cheered when he got the winner in the JPT. DMG was an exception in the right place at the right time we aint gonna get another for another while ...........

Quite I think that MR knows he has a bit of work to get Leon playing the 4-5-1 role more effective. Lets be honest its not an easy task and requires intelligence and hard work. The players we have though now at CCFC to back you up in Sheffers, Baker, Adams, Moussa, bailey etc etc is a joy to behold though. We really are a good team to watch at the minute. With some clinical finishing someone is due another hiding soon !!

If he is making space by drawing other players away then he is still helping the team

I do think with Elliott he would play better!

I think that MR might go 442 at Deepdale. Leon and Elliott up top

If ever! Tell you something else - McGoldrick will NEVER repeat the feat he achived here! It was a freak of nature - At least I can say I was there (In 20 years time - If I live that long)

Thought Clarke was poor today, didn't really look like scoring and didn't hold the ball up well. Also seemed consistently offside

That sometimes happens with players; they find that ALL the circumstances are right and they just play at their peak. Would it have continued if he had stayed? Anyone's guess.

I don't think we should sacrifice that extra midfielder at Deepdale, we played better with 1 upfront, just Clarke was hopeless today.

I want Elliot start against Preston, but I think Robins will start Clarke. I didn't see the game, so if Robins saw what you did he might start Elliot

Clarke needs a strike partner alongside to run off him and to run for him....4-4-2 anyone?

Personally, LC ran his socks off, pressuring the whole of the defence and keeper when they had the ball.

Without the ball, he was waiting for the killer pass, and their defence stopped almost all passes gettin past the defence line.

He isn't DMC he is LC he needs to adapt to how we play and vice versa, just remember it tool DMC a few games to get going.

I'll admit we are not the same team in front off goal now but hopefully it will come because everyone else is scoring now, shows how much of a team we are and how well the players play together

Yeh his work rate cant be faulted

We don't have dmc who are will win games on his own, we need the whole team to step up now

If still start Clarke vs Preston personally
