What we have here is a vicious circle. SISU cuts the player budget - we are relegated - people get pissed off - fewer people attend - revenues fall - SISU cuts the player budget.

So how did it start? It really started with the regime who overspent in the 90s, but in recent history, IMO, SISU bought the club with the sole intention of getting the Ricoh for cheap. When it became obvious that they would not get it they stopped supporting the club - this was the year that we put out the youth team and were relegated from the Championship. So SISU started it. God knows why they won't just leave, but if they stay, mark my words, it will be non-league in three years.

Because the emotional ties to the club are their last bargaining chip. "Deal with us or watch your club die." Spin the story that the demise is all the councils fault despite consistent losses above the amount the Ricoh would provide and cut funding so fans demand something is done to halt the slide on the pitch. City fans are voters, make the issue contentious enough and pressure the council that way.

That game can go on as long as either side holds out. How low would City need to sink to cause that backlash? Have Sisu burned too many bridges with fans? Does Joy know/care or is it all about not giving in at this point? Who knows.

Personally I feel that they had the right intentions initially .... then found that it wasn't as easy as they had hoped to get promoted, then found that it was pretty expensive just to stay where they were, then found that cutting expenditure *does* have an effect on team performance, then decided that they just wanted to get their money back regardless of the means .....

Not yet, but as a loyalty gesture all owners of 'L2 Lads Beano 2014/5' shirts will get 10% off future purchases.
