Agree with this but Robins backs to the wall mentality helped a lot in the "bigger games" we played better as the underdog. Granted now our squad is infinitely better but I still prefer to down play it

I agree, I think Lampard has improved our overall base level, and made us more consistent. But Robins always had us up and overperforming in the big games or games against better teams (on paper) Like the Wolves, Leeds, Leicester, Middlesbrough away playoff wins, and we all know what happened against Man Utd, even the Spurs defeat was an impressive raised performance. Other than the first half Vs Luton, Robins has pretty much had us up for, and mostly winning, pretty much every big game either as the plucky underdog, or the team who goes for it on the day.

Under Lampard, I'm yet to see us beat a better team or win a really big game, Middlesbrough at home to seal playoffs is about the only one, and we were favourites for that. I feel he just has us performing at a really good level, and it's either good enough on the day, or it's not, with little deviation from the mean. I hope I'm wrong, as the sample size is still small, and as we play more and more tough games under Lampard, we get results. But I feel he's more trying to make us take steps to make us be the better team (not a bad thing) and shift that mentality.

So we're probably more likely to become consistent enough to challenge top 2 under Lampard, but if end up in a tricky 1 off playoff or cup tie, we won't have the raised ceiling Robins used to find, we'll just go out and play our way/brand, and hope it's better than them.

The caveat to this too is that teams now set up against us for an onslaught, whereas back in the day we were not deemed a threat. Think that's why a lot of top teams came unstuck against us, and why now we have to work a lot harder.

..just want us to start on the front foot and play some exciting football with fast inter changes in their box! If Faes plays he will give away a penalty against EMC

Chris Marsden was another decent player we had who looked like he had a slight limp after an injury. Went on to Southampton and did well. I wished we'd of kept him as always liked him. Think it was New Years Day 94, we won 2-1at Spurs and he absolutely ran the show

Gazumped for him by Wolves who were a division below us I think. Someone at our club was not paying attention, Marsden was brilliant.

There’s a decent pub right by the train station if you’re scouting for a drink!

I always found it odd how badly the Robins teams used to play against passing teams. Felt like teams like Swansea, Southampton, Ipswich etc had our number every time we played them and nothing he tried to do helped. Always wondered why.

From the Leicester forum

'Also Coventry have never had a player as good as Fatawu never mind Banks, Lineker, Kante, Mahrez, Vardy.

Their legends are Peter Ndlovu and Gary McSheffrey. No matter the result tomorrow they’ll remain a pitiful club curtained in self delusion of an FA cup disappearing into the rear view of their grandad’s memories - ours was 4 years ago. Prior to that we won the league 9 years ago. We’ve won the second tier 8 times which is small
fry, they’ve done it once.

The best thing that has happened to them in on most of their lifetimes was beating us in a league game
.'

Is he really suggesting McSheffery is one of our best ever players?

That last paragraph is laughable. It doesn't even rank top of that season ffs.

It’s derby day and I’m buzzing. A long 12 hours until kick off now.

let’s finally break the hoodoo of winning there and get this top two charge on the march.

Show them what a proper footballing side looks like and blow them away.

They can stick all this “we don’t care” bollocks where the sun don’t shine too. We’re clearly rivals, it’s 17 miles and we hate each other. You wouldn’t say I don’t care about you to a random side.

The reason they do it is because they try and create a rivalry with Forest who respond with that because they actually don’t care, their rivals are Derby. Their inbred little pea brains then think that’s how you act to your rivals.
