And from when I started going regularly (2001), games against Lesta were probably still the spiciest they got but even then, not massively so.

If some of the stuff that went between the 2 sets of fans had say been between Villa Birmingham, Forset Derby, Sunderland Newcastle it would of been plastered all over the news. Some of them were but a lot of the time it went under the radar

The West Midlands ceased to exist as a functioning county in 1986.

Coventry is part of Warwickshire in all but name only

Cov was also big enough to be a county in its own right from 1541-1842.

Leicester on the other hand only got city status in 1919, hence their club's original name of Leicester Fosse.

There's some weird vernacular creeping into this forum of late.
I think the good start has gone to people's vocabularies

Can we put it in the same box as ‘delicious’ when describing a cross or pass?

Savage coming out with 'magnificent' over Isaac Moore is completely against my thoughts on Savage.
Perhaps my memeory is clouded by the night in Derby when he got a young Jordan Clarke sent off, I've hated the fucker since, but credit where it's due, he's giving the lad a good shot at the club.

Fire yes, Ambulance no (the West Midlands Ambulance service covers the West Midlands region rather than the county)

I guess Leicester is a dump and so is Coventry, but at least our county is nice. The West Midlands is grim as you’re not part of Warwickshire anymore.

As someone who has lived in both cities, they have their bad bits and their fabulous bits. Now Grimsby however, it even says it in the name.

The whole ‘you’re obsessed with us, we don’t care about you’ is embarrassing from both sides. It’s both teams biggest game this season.

I remember that one where the players were taken off and if I recall corectly it was started by an assault on the pitch by a Leicester player on one of ours. TIme has dimmed the memory though. Ppossibly the protagonist played for both teams - Kevin McDonald?

Think the foul on Benno started the aggro. There were Leicester fans in the West Stand where it started, then it all ended up on the pitch. Bobby Gould came on and spoke on the mic but it was broken and he sounded like Norman Collier from the Comedians

Was hoping to make this one - had a great time in 2023 despite the result - but got a, shall we say, stern reminder from the better half that Saturday is my sister-in-law's wedding. Feeling confident we can get the three points and looking forward to surreptitiously checking the score on my smart watch.
