Youd think it would be a decent crowd for both.

Not sure....I reckon West Ham v Cardiff, Southampton v Leeds and Derby v Birmingham will be seen as bigger games by neutrals.

Brighton v Doncaster, 15:00
Bristol City v Ipswich, 15:00
Burnley v Watford, 15:00
Coventry v Leicester, 15:00
Derby v Birmingham, 15:00
Hull v Blackpool, 15:00
Middlesbrough v Portsmouth, 15:00
Nott'm Forest v Barnsley, 15:00
Peterborough v Crystal Palace, 15:00
Reading v Millwall, 15:00
Southampton v Leeds, 15:00
West Ham v Cardiff, 15:00

Would prefer if it wasn't really, crowds always suffer. The Birmingham game however, I don't mind. . I'll still be going. So excited!

THORN: Delighted by derby start!

CITY manager Andy Thorn has reacted with delight to facing two Midlands clubs in the opening two league fixtures of the 20011/12 Championship season.

The Sky Blues will face M69 rivals Leicester City in the first game of the new campaign on Saturday, August 6, followed by a trip to St Andrew's to take on Birmingham City on Saturday, August 13.

The Christmas schedule sees Coventry City line-up against Bristol City on Boxing Day and another Ricoh Arena game against League One champions Brighton on New Year's Eve.

The busy schedule continues with an away fixture at West Ham United on January 2.

The final home game will be against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, April 21, while the last match of the season will be at Nigel Adkins' Southampton on Saturday, April 28.
Thorn is already looking forward to Coventry's home match against the Foxes - the fourth successive season the club has begun with a home game.

And he is confident the Sky Blues army will be backing the team in big numbers at the Ricoh Arena against Sven-Goran Eriksson's men.

Thorn said:

"It is brilliant, "To have the first game at home to Leicester is a great start. I think the Ricoh will be nearly full since Leicester will bring a lot of fans as well.
"I am pleased to have two local derbies so early - I am looking forward to it and it will certainly get everyone talking.

"It is about what we do. I think we're a different club and we're a different side and it will be a good test for us early on. I know what we're capable of achieving and it is a great start.

"I can't wait for the season to start. I'm sure the fans feel exactly the same."

Thorn, whose squad report back for pre-season training on Friday, July 1, added: "I would have liked to have been at the Ricoh for the last match of the season but we have to travel to Southampton instead.

"Those last five games will be difficult but every game will be tough in the Championship it doesn't matter who you play."

Well there are no surprises in there. I had an idea we would play all of these teams twice next season. Once at the Ricoh and once at their ground.

Fantastic start to the new season! But for me, two away week-end games on the trot: Brighton on 26 Nov and then Pompey 3 Dec! Can get to both! And then Southampton as the final game! Mouth-watering propsect for me if we are in a play-off position (or better)!! Easy game to get to! 6 quid on the ferry and a short walk to the ground! Woo Hoo!!

That will be Marlon King scoring against us in our first away game.

I wonder if he would celebrate it!

He wont score, BT will have put hime out of the game within a couple of minutes.

Perhaps it will be like Noel Whelans first game against us when he was at Middlesbrough, he scored, except it was an own goal and for us. Nice:laugh:

I don't like being too cynical but I don't think BT will be able to get near him (unless it is in the air)

We've won the opener for the last five seasons and haven't lost one since relegation.

Have I jinxed it?

Confirmed. My Mate's mum is security at the club and is working today and has been told that its being changed to an early kick off for safety and to be on Sky.

Of course he will. He's no true sportsman like Robbie Keane was when he scored against us after he joined Spurs. No celebration, head down and a "hand in the air" in apology to the City fans because he was truly gutted for scoring against us.

I'd imagine King would revel in it if he scored against us.

Unless we are 4-0 up when he scored

Great fixtures to start the season, if we can get good results in the first two games I would imagine the optimism and confidence in Coventry fans would go sky high again

We don't know if he'll play - maybe the new Blues' manager (whoever it is) will want to bring in his own strikers.

Marlon will be conveniently injured for that game I imagine. Hope we beat both of them!

Dont want to be cynical here, but why are we focussing on King yet again.

The Blouse will have eleven players like us, and any may or may not score, as with us (excpet Freddy if he is playing) I prefer to think we will beat them, and he wont score.

He isnt Ronaldo or Rooney and yet everyone seems to think he is destined to score.
He wont, and I am happy to be quoted on that after the game.

I would prefer to see Dann out than i would King, as he is a better player.
